This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviews highlight the overall excellence and transformative impact of the G2 scooter, particularly for urban commuting. Users experience a significant upgrade in comfort and utility over previous models, emphasizing the G2's superior suspension, durability, and commuter-friendly features. Its ability to handle uneven urban terrain and provide a smooth ride without bodily pain is highly praised, despite some concerns over its weight and suitability for heavier riders.

Pros

  • 🛴 Solid build quality with hydraulic suspension and air-filled tires ensure a smooth ride over uneven terrain.
  • 🚀 Good torque and acceleration, handling hills with ease and offering a comfortable top speed for commuting.
  • 🔋 Impressive battery longevity, supporting long rides and minimizing charging frequency.
  • 👍 User-friendly controls and easy assembly contribute to a positive out-of-box experience.
  • 💡 Bright turn signals and customization options via the app enhance safety and personal preference fulfillment.

Cons

  • ⚖️ Some may find the scooter's weight a challenge, especially when carrying it over multiple flights of stairs.
  • 🚨 The positions and sizes of buttons for turn signals and horn are suboptimal, potentially impacting usability.
  • 💧 Lack of weatherproofing restricts usage in rainy conditions or on wet surfaces.
  • 🛣️ Ride quality on extremely rough surfaces like cobblestones can still be jarring despite the advanced suspension.

Should I Buy It?

Yes, if you're looking for a high-quality, durable scooter for urban commuting, the G2 offers excellent ride comfort, battery life, and construction. It's a significant upgrade over many models, especially in urban environments with rough terrain. However, consider the weight and how you'll store it, and note the potential limitations for heavier riders and during adverse weather conditions.

I went from ebike to this scooter, primarily because of theft, and I'm old and don't like walking much anymore, and this thing just shows me how slow walking actually is. Scooters, by virtue of their size, are really an accessory for your day. It fits under and between everything. Takes me home as fast or faster than public transport, which is acres faster than driving in this city. Short trips from door to door. Longer trips are pure joy, if you stick to bike lanes for most of your trip, just driving this thing is very fun. Its max 22mph which is more than enough to pass cyclists and is faster than running. Dual suspension is very nice, dial it in as per your weight and what terrain your travel on most. Indicators (turn sig) are fab, fairly viewable by drivers behind you, very viewable by drivers in front. Piercing horn, that seems like a joke but actually gets attention within about a 30ft front direction. Tires are, well tires, ive not had to pump since I got it 660 miles ago. Lightly jump up and pull the bars with you to get over small 2" curbs, the suspension helps. Easy to read, Easy to understand, Easy to update, (Segway offer lots of little cool updates and upgrades). Its a bit heavy as a thing in your day, but not a big deal on one or two flights of stairs (if your under 50, double that). Headlight is bright enough for 22mph at night to see about 30ft in front. Rear light is bright easily viewable by drivers , and a choice on how it functions (like a car or a bicycle). Apple FindMy built in! Amazing!! There are other scooters out there for less, that do more, but this is my entry point, and I wanted something I didn't have to think much about. ... show more

  • Great for quick around town runs

Love this scooter. First one I've ever owned. Gets up to a good speed. Battery lasts. The app didn't seem to actually lock the scooter at beware of that. The scooter is quite big. Haven't found a stand yet that fits it but the folding handle bar helps to minimize storage space. It's also quite heavy so watch those ankles when lifting it over steps. ... show more

  • So much fun, if you’re thinking about it - get it!
Style: MAX G2-43 miles
This thing is totally worth it! It’s so much fun to ride around. The larger size, suspension and build quality make it quite comfortable, even on brick roads. Must have the extended range that this one does, and it’s still not enough. 22 is fast, but I wish it could go faster and last longer. It does have some weight to it, would not recommend to carry it. Have to keep it in sport mode for top speed, but it doesn’t go nearly 40+ miles on a charge when you’re having fun. The performance decreases as the battery drains. ... show more

  • Great scooter for the commuter!
Style: MAX G30P-40 miles
I am new to electric scooters so this is a review by a novice. I am 35 years old and grew up biking everywhere. However, age and medical issues are catching up with me and biking isn't as enjoyable as it once was. I live 9 miles away from my work and wanted an option to commute to work. Today I rode it for the first time after charging it and decided to take it to work. The scooter did awesome. I am a heavy rider, about 240 pounds and needed to use sport mode to make it up a few hills, but did great. The top speed for me is 18 in sport mode and hit 20 down hills. In D mode the top speed is 15 and in Eco the top speed is 10, but the motor has very little torque to make it up hills in Eco mode, while on Sport mode you can zip up pretty much anything. Eco great for putting around with my kids on thier bikes and scooters. The battery range is awesome. After a 20.1 mile commute I still had 40% battery left. I suppose I could have driven it 30, but I was told discharging the cells too low is bad for it. The suspension is lacking, as there is none. The 10 inch tires do very little to cushion large bumps. On a rocky road my brain felt like it was shook loose. However, most of my commuting is on pavement so it's perfect. At 6'1" with size 13 shoes the board seems to be a little too narrow for me, however I don't see this as a big problem as I don't believe I was in the target market when they designed this. Brakes work exactly as they should. There is a front drum brake and the internal hub motor will also help with braking and slow you down if you release the throttle. The segway app is lacking in a few aspects, but there are third party apps you can use with expanded functionality. Set up was a breeze, save for one aspect. In the stem of the handle bars when you install them make sure you look into the stem. You will see a blue wire that needs to be connected. If you do not connect it, the scooter will turn on and say error 14. So make sure it is plugged in before you install the screws. I am very happy with my purchase so far and highly recommend it. Nothing compares in the price range in my opinion and build quality is top notch. Also aftermarket support seems to be starting like it was with the m365 and m365 pro, so you can expect parts availability. Overall I highly recommend and give the ninebot max 5 stars. ... show more
