  • Good quality 12" non-stick pan with lid that I can move from stovetop to oven
I ordered this pan because I needed this size in a non-stick pan for a recipe in one of my cookbooks and it came highly recommended by the author. I also needed a pan that could go from the stovetop into the oven and this can. It comes with a lid that is very light and has two-vent holes on the rim side. The pan's handles are great for transporting / carrying this pan from stovetop to oven or to sink. They do get hot, so I needed to use a pot holder. Also, since they are large handles, the pan with the handles extend over the sides of the stove. I had to move things around to get the "working room" I needed. I always lightly oil a non-stick surface and never cook without at least a thin coating on the pan. Note that the instructions are useless. They are in 24 different languages with only one page dedicated to each language. The first page has a few sentences on how to assemble the lid (mine came pre-assembled). The one English page just mentions that the pan should be washed before first use and how to clean it after use. It also mentions that the warranty does not cover glass lids or scratch marks and that although it is dishwasher safe, that washing method is not recommended. There is no mention that this can go into the oven, what is the maximum temperature to use, what the lid holes are for, or that there is even a lifetime warranty (although I understand there is a lifetime warranty). I suppose this would have to be shipped back to Denmark to claim the warranty. Note that I have a gas stovetop but this can be used on an induction top as well. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. Only time will tell if this will hold up. I will update my review if this fails in any way. ... show more

  • great pan for bigger dishes
We splurged on one of the basic sets from this Scanpan line a couple years ago, and have no complaints about them. They are really good pots and pans which provide excellent heat transfer from flame to food, allow the proper amount of steam off when cooking anything--thanks to the two little holes in the side of all the lids--and clean up is a breeze. This larger pan is my favorite, though, after eyeing it at Sur le Table one day and then finding it on Amazon. I love the size and use it more often than any of my other pans. Before this, I used a large iron skillet when I needed something larger, and I still like my big iron pan for certain things, like frying bacon, but nothing else beats this large pan with its see-through lid. I imagine they will all last for decades and are well worth the price tag. In fact, with all my great Scanpans, I have continued to be more and more creative in the kitchen, meaning we eat out very rarely these days, so it has already more than paid for itself. BTW, one of my other pans began to show signs of peeling like the old, cheaper teflon pans would do after use. I contacted ScanPan's customer service, was sent an email immediately with info on how and when they replace a product (making sure one hasn't abused the pan/used it incorrectly). Took about one week total to get my new replacement pan as they said that there were a few times when the layers don't properly adhere in the production and this flaking can occur. I was thrilled they stood by their product and the process was seamless. Best advice is to keep your receipt(s). Without that, not so sure it would have been so easy. UPDATE: 6/12/15 - I've since returned not only this Chef's pan, but two more - Scanpan continues to stand by their product and has replaced four of my CTX pieces (so far). Great customer service. Just FYI: scanpan.com - scroll to bottom of page to Customer Service link for "contact Scanpan USA" (takes about 2 business days before getting a reply with subsequent instructions how to return stuff) ... show more

  • Quality but too heavy
This pan was gorgeous and great quality. Scanpans are the very best. It was just too heavy and larger than expected. It also wasnโ€™t deep enough for my purposes. It arrived in a very banged up box, but thankfully the interior box was fine. Had to return it. :-(

  • Great products, happy with quality
Love this pan. I use it for oil-free vegan cooking. Nice large size, great no-stick ceramic lining. Easy to clean. Browns potatoes and onions nicely. Also great for stirfrys, paella, and "fried" rice/grain dishes because of the higher sides. This my second Scanpan. My first, a frypan, has served faithfully for 6 years, and is still going strong. The finish has held up well. This time I wanted a larger, multipurpose pan with a lid. ***Update 12/18/2020*** I have had this pan for over six months and have used it nearly every day. I use it on a gas range. The exterior stainless shows a few insignificant scratches from contact/dragging across my rangetop grids. Otherwise, it is as if br and new. The nonstick ceramic interior looks and performs exactly as it did on day one. I am very satisfied with this pan and plan to buy another, smaller skillet. Definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Nice weight to the pan. Handles stay cool.
Its my everything pan. I took one star away, I have a small scratch in the bottom, not sure how that happened. I only use silicon tools or a wooden spoon in it. Easy to do eggs without oil in it. I let them cook a bit, then shift them around. I have another pan, from another vendor that is okay, but the handles on that unit gets really hot. This pan is expensive, so I hope it holds up. Other than the scratch, all seems to be fine. ... show more

  • One Pan to Rule Them All
I spent a lot of time looking for a pan that would fit many criteria, which this does, and this has the added bonus of being made with 90% recycled material and having a great modern design. The criteria it meets: no long handle; see-through lid; oven safe to 500 degrees; non-stick with no known harmful chemicals; can be used on any cooking surface; the conducting layer goes up the sides and is not just on the bottom; can use any cooking utensil; can go in the dishwasher (which I donโ€™t do, but in case someone else at home might); 5.5 quart, so deep enough and wide enough to saute 4-5 pieces of meat and add greens like spinach without making a mess. And I really need so little, if any, oil. The only downside is that it is expensive, but I feel worth it. Love it. ... show more
