I wanted larger waterers for my quail and thought these would do the trick. Labeled for chicks I thought the trough portion would be small enough for my tiny birds. These were far too wide and deep even for adult jumbo quail. I returned them. They would probably be ok for pullets but honestly I wouldn't use these with my bantam chicks either. They could get all the way in the water. But they are well made, easily came apart so cleaning would be a breeze. They're nice waterers just no good for my small urban homestead needs. ... show more

    • Makes life easier
I got tired of chicks knocking over their conventional plastic drinkers and befouling the water with bedding and droppings. The babies probably drank only a tiny fraction of every bottle, and the majority was spilled and soiled. This also resulted in much soaked bedding, and often the outside of the waterer would become muddy and require washing. All in all a lot of my time was being wasted constantly refreshing water bottles and laying down new bedding. No more! A hanging waterer is the answer. I suspend it from a hook tied to a string tied to a dowel rod that rests atop their brooder walls. With a clamp, the dowel can be spun to raise or lower the drinker, which is nice as the chicks get taller. I've bought three of these hanging drinkers so far and everyone's quality of life is much higher as a result; dry brooders, clean water, and fewer refills needed. ... show more

I use it for wild birds. It keeps the water cleaner longer. In the summer, I freeze small water bottles and put them in the reservoir upside down with the lids off. They melt slowly and keep the water cool.

    • Love the size…missing adjustable height tho
I love the size & that it had the height adjustments and ability to be hung….only draw back is I didn’t receive the adjustable height feet. I couldn’t contact the company but could Leave a review. Hopefully I hear back & or receive the feet!
