  • Was a great pedal out of the box
Size: Double
Was a great pedal out of the box. However, after taking the eccentric cam pieces out, adjusting the springs, and beater angles it seems to play much better. Taking these out essentially increases speed and decreases the amount of foot action. This also prevents the pedals from sliding forward as they are now more lower to the ground. Couple things they could of done better would be to have a wider bottom hinge to decrease side to side play in the pedal (there's not as much as I may be making it seem), also the one drive shaft end is a little too tight as the other one spins freely when you disconnect the left pedal. I don't know if they done this on purpose in comparison to the demon drive, or if it is a minor flaw. This is not noticeable in the left pedal when playing that I can tell however, so I can't talk too bad about it. Very good build quality, and the only way this pedal will ever give you problems after many many years is if your an idiot. I've had an axis short board before and it really is a close call of which one I like better to play on. Hands down the pearl has much better build durability, and a much cheaper price. Very light and solid pedal. Has all the adjustments I need, and I don't prefer any more than what this one has, other wise I spend the rest of my life adjusting them other pedals and still never find a damn setting. I really like the smooth foot board feel and look. This really is a great pedal. Adjust this pedal to how you feel best, and work on your BPM's. If you can't get them up with this pedal then it's probably you and not the pedal. ... show more

  • Good Pedal at a Good Price
Size: Double
I have owned several double pedals over the past several years (DW, Pearl, PDP, Gibraltar) but never had bought one brand new (buying drum gear is like buying cars, used stuff is totally functional and the only reason you buy new is because no one else has touched it but you). However, I bought this because Pearl is/was doing a $50 rebate promotion for double pedals so I figured it was a good time to try out a new one. For the price, this is an excellent pedal. Several adjustment options (very easy to do) make this pedal versatile. I have owned a DW9002 and lets be serious, this pedal is not the same thing. But it isn't intended to be. If you want a DW9000 series pedal, you have to go buy a DW9000 series pedal. Don't buy a cheap one and condemn it for not being a professional-grade piece of gear. That's like buying a Ford and saying it is a piece of garbage because it isn't a Ferrari. As with everything, you get what you pay for. So, at this price point, I think the pedal is a great buy. Smooth, adjustable, the beaters are a nice weight, and it seems to be very high quality construction. I also like the look of it (though that is low on my priority list). I don't play metal so I'm not sure how it goes for you super speed demons (who always seem to complain about any pedal that isn't an Iron Cobra) but for casual use in fills or those extra flourishes that just can't be achieved with a single pedal, I think it is great. Mine did not come with an extra set of cams, though the powershifter cams (orange ones) are the ones I wanted and they came installed on the pedal so I don't care. Shipped in 2 days (via Prime) as always and came packaged pretty well (no damage upon arrival). All in all, I would buy again, especially if Pearl does the $50 rebate promotion again in the future. ... show more

  • Strong, Sturdy and fun to play.
Size: Double
After 2 and a half years of use my Demonator still is going strong. The feeling of the longboard is fantastic, it allowed for a strong and fast whip on the kick for fast playing. For the money it feels like a professional pedal and i love the way it looks. Its heals up over time, it has well over 5,000 hours of play time on it though studio work, live, and much more. The spring locks really do keep the springs from losing tension over time. The double sided beater allows for a larger range of sounds with the soft velvety side giving a warm thud and the plastic a hard slap. This pedal is well worth the money and will definitely last you a long time. I couldn't recommend this pedal set enough for beginners to advanced and intermediate players. ... show more

  • I like it enough
Size: Single
I like it enough. Not as nice a my Tama Iron Cobra but its also less than half the cost. I use it on my electronic set and it works out very well unless I get into a song the has a lot of really fast foot work and then I need to swap it with the Iron Cobra. Great for the money though. Keeps me from having to keep pulling the pedal off my acoustic set to the electronic set and back again every time I switch kits. ... show more

  • Best pedal I’ve ever purchased - and I’m an old timer
Size: Single
I was gambling by buying two of these Pearl P930 Demonator pedals without even trying them first...and man I won! This pedal is the best bang for your buck - I feel like I’m writing for an old western film. Anywhos, these long board pedals we’re just what I needed to develop my heel to toe technique without spending a fortune. Before when I was struggling to keep a 16th note double bass rhythm, I can now effortlessly shred through 32nd notes utilizing the long footboards. They look awesome, they’re infinitely adjustable, they’re durable and affordable - what more could you ask for?! I’ve always had good luck with every Pearl product I purchased and I’m not about to stop now...unless my wife ends my life because I’ve spent all our money. Give this pedal a try - you won’t be disappointed! ... show more

  • Pearl hardware has never let me down
Size: Double
I got these some 4 years ago since then I've replaced the bearings and changed the beater but went back to em,and ive also upgraded to the tama speed cobras but i use the pearl duo beaters cause the are awesome. Back the p-932 having a few years experience with drumming these pedals are fantastic, very smooth and responsive and the other cool thing is the longboard being a beginner pedal its pretty cool. The cam is adjustable by simply taking off the orange cam which gives it attack, power and a some what faster stroke time and also the foot board is adjustable hence the name powershifter. It gives a heavier feel and stronger attack i guess, when you set the pedal to your sweet spot it feels amazing especially the beaters it has the right weight and balance not too heavy not to light and the core compensates the vibrations from the hit on the head which actually does help in a way. I think this review was everywhere on the map but i hope this helps ... show more
