  • Quick and nicely weighted
Style: Single
Bearing in mind I've been playing on a classic Slingerland with the leather or nylon strap, I wanted something with a little more weight and speed. There was a feel I was looking for and this one does the job. I had some experience with this pedal from a church drum set that was a very nice Pearl Export series. I play a Yamaha Stage Custom, one of the best kits out there. It's a mid 90s circa, and I felt, demanded the right kick. The bass on this set is deep and resonant. I tried a couple of different pedals but landed on the DW 3000. It's features make it very versatile. All the adjustments and then some. I play Jazz and Fusion but the newer stuff is closer to Rock so there are those times when you want the drive and this pedal delivers. It's well priced and performs for just about everything you want. I also use it on my E-Drums. The base is very stable, solid. Stays where you put it. The bearing action is super smooth. The dual mallet is great for what ever you want. I change it around often but not sure which side I like best as I like both. Anyway you slice it, it's one of the best out there and for the money, it's a no brainer. Pros: Fast and just about the right weight. Cons: none. Should I buy it? Yes, you won't be disappointed in it and, really, it feels to me every bit as good as the high dollar pedals which sell for much more but aren't really that much better. As long as they keep making it, there will be plenty of happy drummers. I'm definitely one of them. ... show more

  • Its that dw action
Style: Double
I have always been a fan of any type of DW series when it comes to hi-hats to drum pedals. The spring action is nice and it comes with a drum key that fits under the pedal. Feels really fluid for fast and slow foot work. It may be the lower of the series of pedals, but it does the work and you wouldn't even notice that it is not a 9000. It is very sleek and sturdy which is all that matters especially for the heavy footed drummers! ... show more

  • Great Set Of Pedals
Style: Double
I tried a few different models that were cheaper, and returned them all. This product is worth every penny. I have been hammering on them for a while, and although the main (felt) beater looks a little flatter (I use that one more), they are still working great. I love playing double bass, and these pedals let me play real fast, and steady. ... show more

  • High Quality at student/intermediate price
Style: Double
I've been playing the drums for 28 years, my first kit was a double bass kit. I switched to a single bass kit 8 years later. I used a dw7000 double pedal for the last 20 years. So I am no stranger to DW, and double bass drumming with 1 or 2 bass drums. Double pedals are NOT cheap and for the most part, get what you pay for. I always wanted a DW9000 or an Axis double pedal and assumed that's what I'd get next but mine broke at the wrong moment for me financially, and I had to replace it within a few days. After reading almost every comment, watching youtube videos and checking out some floor models at two local music stores, Unfortunately, this wasn't a floor model I got to try out. I decided to cross my finders and order this pedal. I made the right decision. Some reviewers are claiming this pedal is sluggish. Out of the box mine was sluggish, but I adjusted the beater position and the springs, suddenly my feet were flying as usual. This pedal is highly adjustable, I like how the dual chain keeps the pedal from rocking from side to side, which always happened on my 7000s which loosened the screws that connected the pedal plate I won't knock off a star for this because I'm reviewing the pedal for it's performance, features, and price. Despite my praise of this product I can tell you that the housing metal, odds and ends, and the connecting rod is cheap metal and may not survive a tour if you don't have a protective case with a foam interior. ... show more

  • Contrasting the 3000 vs. 5000
Style: Single
I've had the 3000 for 6 months and now that I have a 5000 pedal I feel like I can give a pretty well rounded review of it. The base plate, hex shaft, beater, and base casting (frame) are the same as the 5000, all very well made. The sprocket on the 3000 is very smooth and responsive though the 5000 sprocket is quicker and more playable I find. I've never had an issue using my 3000 pedal pretty much everyday for the last 6 months. The only real flaw with this model and the biggest difference between the 3000 and the 5000 is the foot-plate and hinge. The 3000 has a tendency to make a bit of noise in the hinge when your foot comes off the plate at all, so this may not be ideal for recording and quieter music. The 5000 is smooth and silent. The difference between the two is like the difference between a nice Toyota and a Lexus. Overall, the 3000 is a great pedal, just shy of perfect. The 5000 is the best I've ever played ... show more

  • Excellent value for money!
Style: Double
I considered other double pedals, including the venerable Iron Cobra, (used, at this price point) but I wanted to buy it as a gift for my son, so my rationale was "new is NEW". My son's percussion instructor uses DW and highly recommended it-- his pedal is a DW 5000 series. This 3000 series has the same "feel" as the 5000. it is tight, and percussive in a way that a strap drive, or even a lower-grade chain drive simply cannot be. Honestly, upgrading from something like a Gibraltar strap drive single to a DW 3000 pedal like this is the sonic equivalent of replacing your drum set. Percussion is quicker, response is very good. Impact is impressive; thundering when you want it to be, but rewardingly articulate in softer music like jazz. Everyone has their own taste of course, but for my money, I feel that I have purchased a very good product. There are probably better pedals, and there certainly are worse ones, but at this price point, this is a good deal on a NEW pedal. ... show more
