I have used it many times and everything comes out perfect every time. Christmas Prime Rib was perfect. Wife said Wings with smoke were the best she has ever had. Pulled Pork just fell apart and Pork ribs were also perfect. My smoked ham took less time to cook. I like that I can burn pellets for the first hour or so and then heat to temp. With my pellet grill I use alot of pellets to cook, with the Ninja woodfire I save on them. I use combination blend from Walmart. Will last for years? ... show more

I have BBQed , grilled and smoked for years. I own every type of cooking device. I am pretty close to a master at this....I will tell you. With this woodfire grill there is a learning curve. But by watching others and practicing on your own. This Appliance comes 95% close to a wood or charcoal grill. And that's in flavor and bark. It blows away any gas grill. The only thing I cook on a gas grill is anything with a high fat content. But with this no more gas grill. Getting propane is a hassle. In my opinion on smaller cuts of meat it over smokes, but you just use less pellets or turn off the unit when you think you have enough smoke . Then restart it without smoke. Also this cooks one third faster than you are used to with a standard bbq...so you have to watch it and dial in your settings. After that its great! With any BBQer if you don't own a high quality instant read thermometer and temperature chart . You will be hit and miss. You will fail your guests....LOL This thing is built like a tank. The top is double walled and the unit is kind of heavy. The heating element under the grill plate covers the entire bottom. This defiantly sears the meat and no cold spots. Ok now the kicker...no mess! the pellet hopper leaves almost no ash and when the grate cools, wash it in the sink with hot water, dish soap and a brush.... So this is the only thing that is different from a charcoal or gas grill. The meat is a little wetter when cooked. Because the juice does not fall in the fire. So your hamburgers do not have that drier texture. If the engineer's made the grill grate deeper to lift the meat higher up that MIGHT help....just guessing I highly recommend this for personal or a small group, for fast , flavorful cooking with ease of clean up. ... show more

Awesome woodfire grill! The Ninja Woodfire Grill XL is so easy to use! I just add the pellets (it doesn't take much -- the measuring cup accurately puts in the right amount of pellets), and go to the app to start and ignite the grill, and it preheats to the right temp. I used the two probes to cook the meat (and if you have someone who wants a different doneness or if the steak is a different thickness, it accurately shows the temperatures for both and when to flip each and remove each one), and it's flawless. You can taste the woodfire flavor cooked right in, and it doesn't take long to cook to desired doneness. I love this grill -- it may be small but it can handle a couple of steaks and cook them exactly the way you like it! Plus, the app is very helpful -- you don't have to guess as to when to add the food or flip or take it off -- it tells you. ... show more

This Ninja Woodfire XL Grill as an absolute home run for the folks at Ninja. Gone is any need for propane, no last minute trips to the gas station to refill empty propane tanks. Instead, the heat source is electric with infinite flexibility. The smoke, and hence the BBQ flavor, is introduced by just a quarter cup of pellets. This is absolutely the best of both worlds. The grill plate is absolutely non-stick which makes clean-up a breeze. Just wait for it to cool a bit after cooking and hot-soapy water with a nylon brush render it to like new condition almost instantly. I wish Ninja had included a flat griddle plate in the package but $40.00 solved that through Amazon. The unit comes fully assembled so there’s nothing to put together. I highly recommend that you run it through its paces a couple of times prior to your first cook. This will season the paint and “burn-off” and residual manufacturing chemical which might be present………..because there always is. Most importantly, the flavor is out of this world. What a grand-slam design by Ninja. I love this machine. ... show more

gets very hot quickly it is intelligent by recognizing how long it needs to cook offers multiple uses no assembly required and can use right away the downside is that a cleaning the grill is a pain, non-stick spray is not regarded as a good solution as it might interfere with the finish of the grill
