I really like that these knives came in it own carrying case. It's a full set perfect for home use and I have been using this quite often. It's lighter than I expected, but it works for cutting everything including meat and veggies. I sharpened shortly after opening, but it didn't do a whole lot of good. The handle was comfortable for me and my wrist didn't get sore after using. For a complete set of useful knives, this is a good deal. I have not washed it in the dishwasher as I normally handwash anyway, but they are easy to clean and dry. I'm happy with these and they should last a long time even with everyday use. ... show more

A bit light in the handle for my taste. If you've ever used the Global brand you know what I mean. If fatigue from a more solid handle is a concern for you then these may be your knives. The assortment is good - the chef's knife and the Santoku being the the two likeliest used. Could be factory sharper, but that's usually the case anymore. The rolled up, Dexter type storage system is passable for a while, but you're going to want a knife block or magnetic rack. ... show more

One should first note that these knives are not actually Damascus steel. The lines are just printed on the knives. The knives are made of stainless steel, but they are very light. In fact, I weighed and compared one of the knives against our Henckels knife, and it was almost half the weight. You sometimes want a heavier knife in order to help with the leverage you need when cutting a more solid object. The blades were not super sharp when they came out of the box. After a bit of sharpening, they were better, but, due to the weight, I will use these for camping because of the carrying case that I really like. The description says that they are dish washer safe, but I'm hesitant about experimenting with that, so I hand washed them. ... show more

My husband and I are not really outdoorsy, but we’re starting to cook a little more at home to eat healthier and save some money. This set has everything you need, including the sheaths for the knives which isn’t something you always get. The case is a nice storage option, but I recently got a cool magnetic wood block to store knives on, so I’m using that for the most commonly used ones. Some might consider the ornate etchings a little over the top, but I like them. Each knife is of one piece construction, which makes them super easy to clean. The handles are also hollow, resulting in these being very lightweight. That makes me feel like I have more control when using them. Each one is quite sharp, and this set contains a sharpener too; now I just need to learn how to use it! The finger guards included are also a thoughtful addition. For the price I think this is a great set for those that cook outdoors, new homeowners on a budget, or anyone just starting to cook. ... show more

Requested these because I am going to be living with and cooking for a family member whose knives have not been sharpened in 10 years, and a dull knife is a dangerous one. These are wonderfully safe; well sharpened and in beautiful condition. They come with care instructions that suggest not to let them air dry; instead, after washing, wipe them down with the included care cloth. It's very absorbent and dries all of the knives in one go, which I learned by of course washing all the knives prior to use. It also comes with a honing steel, which you can use before cutting to keep your knives in the best condition. The sharp knives cut through food easily, and it even includes finger guards. I've never used them before, but they helped me to cut more quikcly and confidently. Overall it's a beautiful and well-handling set, and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a new full set of knives, whether or not you go camping. I believe it's an excellent set. ... show more
