I have a bad lower back that needs a firm mattress or I can barely get out of bed in the morning. I wasn't planning on buying a "bed in a box" because I didn't think it would suit my needs but I can't afford a fancy mattress so I did some research, read some reviews, and decided to give this mattress a try. So far I'm really happy with my purchase. The mattress feels great when I lay on it, it's really comfortable and it's actually a little thicker than my other traditional mattress was. Some people have mentioned that the corners have too much give and I see what they're talking about but it doesn't affect the overall firmness. I'm on the side of heavy right now, over 200 lbs, and I don't sink in at all when I lay down. For me, it's just the right amount of firm without being hard and uncomfortable. Another thing that was brought up in other reviews is that it didn't expand 100%. Mine is about a half an inch less than what it says it should be but you can't tell by looking at it or by laying on it so I'm not bothered by that. The box says you can use within 10 minutes of opening and they aren't kidding. It fully expands as soon as you cut the plastic open. If you can't afford a high end mattress or don't want to, this is a great option. I expect this mattress to last. ... show more

This is a good mattress. It said it was a medium firm, but the top that's on it makes it so comfortable. It was easy to get out of the package it came with a letter opener to open it up, please stand back while opening. In the first 15 minutes it was up to 10 inches after 24-30 hours it was to the full 12 inches. I did allow the whole 72 hours for it to expand. I didn't hear any noise that people are reporting. I think this mattress is a great value for the money. There was no smell either and some people reported. It seems to be very stable sitting on the side but I'm under 200 pounds. ... show more
