This review is going to be in-depth, and objective, as well as a little bit of subjective perspective. It will be ongoing, as I will continue to update periodically for the lifetime of the mattress. I'm doing this for the potential customers, because I would have appreciated If more reviews were more specific, and informative as opposed to just simple comments, hence the word review. I read a lot of Amazon reviews on multiple memory foam mattresses that Amazon had to offer, researched in store, and online prior to purchasing this Best Price Mattress. You spend a 1/3 your life sleeping, so I knew this was a VERY IMPORTANT investment, and wanted to make an informed decision. Also, my spending budget was under $1k, wasn't trying to spend up to $1k-4k on a Tempur-Pedic; plus the ones I tried in store weren't that magical anyways considering the price. I've read that memory foam mattresses tend to last 5 years on average depending you got a decent purchase. So if this lasted even 3 years that accounts to $100 a year, that would be awesome, who could afford not to make this type of investment. To give you an idea, I'm a male, 24 years of age, 5'8", 165 lbs, no major health issues, illness, or sickness just some occasional neck and back pains. I haven't slept well in more than 3 years now, having slept mostly on pillow top spring mattress, futons, and airbeds. I don't usually like taking pills or medicine, but have had to resort to taking Melatonin on occasion due to restlessness. I'm also a very light sleeper (have been for all my life). For instance, I need the room to be pitch dark, no loud, or sudden noises, so I use ear plugs. 2/4/2014 First off, I ordered this on Sunday, close to midnight, and received it on Tuesday, before noon; via Amazon Prime 2-day Shipping. Shipping was very quick, Amazon is usually very good about getting the product delivered on time, even a day earlier sometimes. Ups delivery man carried the 80 lbs box with the mattress up 3 flights of stairs with a smile. The box itself had minor blemishes as expected, but no major damage, or anything that would have damaged the contents containing the mattress. Inside the box was the mattress rolled up in a thin, transparent vacuumed sealed plastic, within a durable, semi-opaque, white outer plastic bag with a tie string, along with warranty, and instructions. Setup was easy enough for one person. The mattress began to expand immediately, when taking off the vacuum sealed plastic; and within 30 minutes it was already at 9 1/4"H. Ten hours later it has expanded to 9 3/4"H. Dimensions on the mattress are on point, fits on the queen bed frame perfectly. Directions say to allow for 48 hours of uninterrupted expansion for best results. I strongly do not recommend sleeping on the mattress during the allotted expansion time, doing so may have implications such as not fully expanding as per the instructions. I'm a little OCD, and cautious, so I'm allowing at least 72 hours for expansion to ensure quality from the very beginning of use. Most of the reviews said that it had a strong chemical odor, and they weren't lying it is quite strong, but not enough to give you a headache. It's been airing out for 10 hours, the chemical odor is still quite noticeable, and this is with a tall window open and the ceiling fan on high, but again this is to be expected. I took the mattress cover off, and will leave it off for the 72 hours to enable it to expand, and dissipate unhindered, also going to wash it to hopefully lessen, and mask the smell. The white removable cover is thin, lightweight, soft, smooth, surprisingly durable, and seems to be of decent quality; the detail design pattern looks to be little flowers of some sort. Underneath the removable white cover is some type of non-removable beige, mesh cover, not too sure what its purpose is, but if you really needed to you could cut it and remove it I guess. I lied on the bed for a couple minutes when it was initially expanding, and it felt really soft, plushy, not really firm, but supportive if that makes sense. I liked what I felt in the few minutes that I had with the mattress; we'll see if it can wow me in the long run though. My only con or gripe about the mattress thus far, would have to be the chemical odor, but again it was to be expected. A friend told me that they actually don't compress the bed until it's ordered, because if it were compressed for a long time and the chemical dried out, it'd probably stay compressed to a certain point. I'm assuming that the chemical helps to compress the foam as well as expand it, a sort of lubricant if you will. Let the chemical run its course, and dissipate, it was implemented for a reason. Additionally I bought a Sleep Innovations Cool Contour Memory Foam Pillow from Amazon coming tomorrow, which I'm eager to try, should go hand in hand with the bed. Also the frame Sleep Master Platform Metal Bed Frame/Mattress Foundation, Queen was from Amazon too, and arrived before the mattress conveniently; no complaints. I bought this mattress in queen for my rv and full for my guest room. Both were in the 8”. I feel it is firm and takes a bit to get used to it but after you do it’s really comfortable. Definitely would buy a third time if needed. Price is amazing.

I am not sure how anyone can sleep on any other kind of mattress now that we have this wonderful mattress. We have used every kind of mattress over the years and memory foam types are the only kind we will use since they are the best for pain relief and comfort. We have this one in queen for our bed. This is by far the best mattress we have ever used and here is why. We looked at memory foam mattresses for days on end after deciding to buy a memory foam mattress. We went to stores and tested everything from Tempurpedic to lesser priced memory foam mattresses and still weren't sure which one we should get. I know Temperpedic's reputation and love their mattresses but we didn't want to shell out 4 to 7 grand for their best mattress so I investigated the science and foam levels of their mattresses at length for days on end for weeks prior to this purchase to find the secret to their mattresses so I could apply that to finding one of equal comfort for a fraction of their prices. I found many other memory foam mattresses here on Amazon and in the stores that boasted about their 3 inch memory foam and 7 inches of base support foam but after close investigation I found that though it sounds great at first all we would really get was 3 inches of memory foam comfort and that to me is no different than a 3 inch memory foam topper. I wanted more comfort than that, and the most inches of memory foam for the price for myself and my family. More memory foam means you will sink in a lot more (less pressure points that you feel) before your body hits the other base foam. As I have back problems and Fibromyalgia (which my mom refers to as the Princess and the Pea Syndrome) I knew we had to have a mattress that would alleviate any and all pressure points such as my hips and knees. The #1 secret most memory foam mattress makers won't tell you to look for is the size of the memory foam (top portion), and the super soft foam (middle portion) vs the high density foam base (base foam). Some makers say theirs are the best because of more total mattress inches (14" 17" etc) this is not true. Height does not measure how much it will sink in. The key secret is to look for the size in inches of memory foam and to add that to the size of the super soft foam, this is how many inches of pure comfort and sink in you will really get! Temperpedic knows this as their mattress have smaller foam bases and more LAYERS of memory and super soft foams. The foam base is made of a firmer type of foam used as a foundation in much the same way as box springs are to create a firm base, that type of foam does not provide much give and is definitely not something you want to feel while sleeping so keep that in mind. This mattress has 3 inches of memory foam + 2 inches of super soft foam and that gives us 5 inches of LAYER memory and super soft foam comfort. Just what we were looking for! At first look, you may be shocked at how a quality memory foam mattress could live in such a small box, but just give it a day or so to puff back up to its regular size which it does incredibly fast, it took less than 30 mins for ours to reach 8 of it's 10 inches. This mattress is compressed tightly for shipping purposes so it will not look fluffy and soft when you first open that box. Wait to open the plastic wrap covering until you get it to the room you want it. Once its opened up, it is very difficult and hard to move around so I suggest placing it on your bed frame or box spring before opening the plastic seal. The rolled up mattress is incredibly heavy, think about getting help with this if you have back problems, and is even harder to move once the plastic wrap is taken off, hence the advice to place it on the bed before unsealing the plastic. We bought a memory foam mattress frame platform bed for our memory foam mattress as well as a Malouf mattress protector. We have added pictures of the box before opening as well as the mattress once it was opened for a few hours above. My little brother loves it and even named it Heaven on a Cloud, and we all agree! ... show more
