  • Worth the Money - PLEASE Read!
Color: Silver Size: 58 inches
Rated 5 Stars: PLEASE READ WHY Before purchasing, I read so many reviews on these; some bad, some good. I was looking for the right cross bars to fit my vehicle, and more importantly, my budget. Everyone makes use of roof racks in different ways, in which, the purpose of my purchase was to haul an 11ft Fishing Kayak. Per the reviews, I could not find any that people had specifically used on a Jeep Renegade, but if you go on Malone’s website, you can enter your vehicle information in and they suggest what fits best. With that, I purchased these! First of all, the packaging came all sorts of jacked up. It was open on both ends, and it look like Amazon just threw it at my front door. But once I took everything out, it all seemed to be ok; no dents, dings, or blemishes. I CANNOT blame the product for how it was shipped to me. Secondly, the install was EASY, and very self explanatory. I would suggest using a drill with a T30/6mm attachment to tighten the crossbars down to your OEM Rails. The Allen key that comes with the rails works, but it’s time consuming to use and hits rails, preventing you to completely tighten the rails down with confidence. Lastly, the durability is great! I was able to haul my Yak on the Malone J-Cradles with no issues, and traveled at speeds up to 70mph on the highway. Of course, I was nervous because of the bad reviews I read on here, but the majority is from user error. These are not hard to install, they fit great, work great and definitely WORTH THE MONEY. I’m happy with my purchase and I would recommend these to anyone., especially if you own a 2015-2020 Jeep Renegade, these work perfectly! ... show more

  • Very sturdy and easy to install (after initial setup)
Color: Silver Size: 50 inches
I've used a few different aftermarket "aero" style cross bars that were designed to look like factory options (Subaru, Toyota). However, these were pretty low-quality options that were inconvenient to install & remove, and sagged under heavy loads (>50 lbs). I was seriously considering dropping almost $500 for a high-end brand-name bar setup (Yakima or Thule) for a Rav4, but decided to give these Malone bars a try first. I'm glad I did! They feel extremely sturdy - no wiggling or sagging at all. Initial setup is a little bit time-consuming, figuring out proper spacing and getting everything assembled for the first time. Installing the rubber strip in the bottom of the bar (prevents wind noise) is also a pain, especially if the strip is cold. It helps to wait for a warm day or bring it inside. But once initial setup is complete, installing or removing the bars takes just a few minutes - it's easier than any roof rack setup I've used so far. The bars themselves are thick aluminum with solid internal bracing - no flexing or sagging at all. I love the built-in Allen wrench, and it's nice that all four locks are included at no extra charge (unlike the fancier brands that charge extra). Wind noise is noticeable if you're paying attention, especially if the moon roof cover is slid back, but it's definitely not loud or obnoxious. Gas mileage differences, like wind noise, are noticeable but not extreme. Overall I'm really impressed at the quality, sturdiness, and ease of installation of these bars. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Surprisingly, exceeded expectations!
Color: Silver Size: 58 inches
To start, almost everything I purchase, usually involves extensive research. One might say too much research. After reading reviews, watching YouTube videos, cross referencing with the leading name brand options... I determined that it wasn't worth spending $300+ on Thule, Rhino, Yakima, etc. Granted, there might be bells and whistles not obtainable by universal cross bars, but who cares. These cross bars are excellent, sturdy, and the rubber footing on the clamps are thick and durable. The locking mechanism is easy to use, and the keys are large enough so you won't lose them or risk breaking them in the locking assembly. Never having installed cross bars myself, it took me about 1 hour with measuring and remeasuring. Tip - When measuring, secure clamps enough to keep cross bar from sliding freely. Once you're confident with your measurements, use a dry erase marker to mark where to cut your weather stripping. IMPORTANT: Weather stripping is rolled in the packaging and not straight. You'll need to insert it partially into the channel to ensure you are cutting the right length. I decided to load half of the weather stripping into the top vs sliding completely in, since you wont be able to cut it that way. PROS: - Sturdy and solid aluminum. - Feet are equally durable and the rubber footing is thick and fits super tight. - Once installed properly, the noise level is minimal to none. - Thick rubber stripping for inner tube channeling. CONS: - Directions are not great - If your overhang on the cross bars vs the footing is greater than 4 inches, tightening the footing is a big pain. - You only get one cut to get the inner tube channeling strip cut to proper length. If you miscut, it will throw everything else off OR you'll have a gap. ... show more
