When tying down a kayak to the roof of your car, you're going to need more than lashing straps and the little tiny rope that is provided in this kit. I can tell you because after tightening the lashing straps as tight as they could be and then continuing to drive down the road my kayak came loose from the roof of my vehicle, not only creating damage to my car but also to my kayak. ... show more

This was the cheapest way to transport my kayak. It's very easy to use. I didn't feel comfortable with the straps so I bought ratchet straps. Now I know my kayak isn't moving no matter how fast I'm driving on the highway. I would buy these again.

Product arrived with no instructions. Had to muddle through with my specific roof rack set up (Nissan Rogue). Kayak is the open type so we needed to mount it right side up. At first the kayak shifted from side to side and was very noisy so I re-arranged and tightened the straps. Straps were still very noisy in the wind while underway requiring me to tie rags around them to deaden the noise. Even with that we had to stop to adjust things every hour or so during a 5 hour ride.
