Description

The MPG125 FoldAway-5 can carry a single recreational or touring kayak on it's side, vertically stack two kayaks, carry a canoe or large sit-on-top kayak, and transport any size SUP. Featuring a pair of quick-release fold-down frames with removable 2-boat modules for transporting wide loads. Each set of carriers are built with corrosion resistant coated steel, thick over-sized padding and heavy duty molded parts. The universal mounting system fits a large cross section of aftermarket load bars (round, square and oval) as well as most factory systems. Also includes two lengths of mounting bolts to achieve the best rack installation. Comes with cam style load straps, bow & stern safety tie-downs and SUP foam pads. Product workmanship and material performance is with our Lifetime Limited .

This rack has worked perfectly. Sturdy and easy to mount without much assembly. Loved that it had two lengths of bolts to choose from so as not to risk damaging the top of my car.     • High quality, heavy build
The carrier has a heavy high quality build. Used it yesterday in 30 mph winds and 60 mph highway with tandem kayak and worked great.

    • Inferior quality plastic end plugs
The end plugs that are placed in the racks are falling apart and two are completely broken. A more durable and higher quality plastic should be used for this item. This occurred even before the racks were installed on the vehicle.

I saved some money by ordering the double kayak carrier. I wish I would have spent a little bit more and got 2 separate sets because this works best in the middle of the car but then it's hard to reach. If I move it toward the side of the car, it's a short reach on that side, but way too far from the other side. This is just preference I guess and no fault of the item itself. It was easy to install, much cheaper than Thule or Yakima and has held our 12ft kayaks without issue. ... show more

We loaded our two Lifetime Tahoma kayaks in the upright position and securely cruised down the highways at speeds of 70-75 mph with no problems. I like that the frame is built out of steel and that the tie downs go through the frame and around the roof racks. Great, sturdy design.

The package came like the picture I posted. I do have enough hardware and both main brackets to do one kayak like I planned but if I had two I’d be screwed because the other half of the hardware and two smaller brackets are missing from the box. With the hardware I have I can do the one side since I plan on only mounting one but still would be nice to have the other half if I did plan on hauling more then one. Seems like decent quality and durable I haven’t mounted it to my truck yet but it seems pretty simple to set up. ... show more

Install was easy. Just loaded up kayaks for the first time. Loading definitely took 2 people, but they feel Sturdy. I’m hoping gets easier each time. I’m glad I have a step stool to take with me to help with straps. Can be done without just easier with.
