  • Cheap but good.
Honestly for a cheap pair of kayak roof racks, these work just fine. Instructions are fairly simple. Some of holes for the bolts don't line up perfectly and the the bolts are a little longer than needed. Might want to make sure that aren't scratching your roof when you install them. Also the wrench provided only works with the locking nuts that hold the kayak rack together. Just incase, locking nuts are 13mm and the nuts for attaching the kayak racks to your roof racks are 14mm. Straps given are cheap, but they do their part. I will probably invest in better straps later on down the road. All in all, these work just fine. Took me about an hour to assemble and get them attached to my roof rack. I do wish that the brackets that go underneath the roof rack were wider but beggers can't be choosers. If I wanted a nicer kayak rack, I would have paid more money. 🤷♂️ P.S. Once you get them installed on your roof rack, your not going to want to take them off for a while just because of how they attach to the roof rack. ... show more

  • Decent for the price
The positive: these went together easily, even without instructions...For the price point the quality is decent. If you are using these to attach to a factory or aftermarket roof rack cross bars, fit them check tightness, and make sure your cross bars are attached properly before use. The negative: the grade 2 hardware is pretty low quality. 1 of the 2.5 inch carriage bolts threads were completely unusable, it looked as though it had been stuck in a conveyor roller for months. Not an expensive fix, since it was only bolt, but a service number to request a replacement would have been nice. Could have been better: the carriage bolts that secure the pad to the frame could have been at least 1/2" shorter. Although they are shorter than the knob, if low clearance to the roof of the vehicle, you could potentially scratch surface if you are not careful while installing. The metal mounting plates and rubber pads: it would have been nice if the large plate went inside the rubber pad, this would have made it so there would not be metal to metal contact between the brackets and the crossbars. Other than that, they work, and hold the kayak PS although you can use the supplied straps it is easier to use a decent set of ratchet straps instead. ... show more

  • Sturdy Racks, But Straps Need to Be Replaced
The frames on these kayak roof racks are solid and of good quality, but the straps are a serious issue. While driving at freeway speed, one of the straps failed, and I was lucky that the other held long enough for me to pull over safely. I recommend the racks themselves—they fit well and do their job—but I highly advise replacing the included straps immediately for peace of mind. With better straps, this setup would be excellent. ... show more

  • Read this before you buy!
So after reading mixed reviews on these racks I’ve decided to try it for myself. Installation was a breeze, only needed a 1/2” and 9/16” socket and ratchet (I believe). Be carful, do not over tighten brackets, make them firm and snug but no need to torque them to 100ftlbs. The easiest way to strap a kayak down ive found was by doing it with a single ratchet strap. Please note I did NOT overtighten the ratchet strap, I simply made it snug. You can easily bend the bars if you were to torque on the ratchet strap. Then as a safety I took the supplied straps, and ran on the the front handle and one to the rear handle of the kayak. These straps are cheap, I don’t recommend them to anyone for securing their kayak. The rest of the kit is nice and decent quality for the price. I’ve put over 1000 miles on with a kayak and haven’t had any issues yet, overall super impressed for the price. ... show more

  • Great kayak racks
These are great! They work just like they're supposed to. I had no trouble assembling or installing them. They've been on my car for about 6 months in the heat and the foam has cracked in only 2 spots. That doesn't bother me and doesn't change the way they work. I haven't had any trouble with the straps that came with them so far except some of the thread starting to unravel on the end but I melted it a little with a lighter and it's been fine since. I've taken them loaded with 2 kayaks on 2 road trips that were 3 hours each direction and they've worked great. No complaints. ... show more

  • AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
Wow. Never have I ever experienced such frustration assembling anything in my life. Do you value your time? Do you value your mental health and sanity? If so, spend the extra $10 and buy a nicer kayak rack. The instructions were only unclear photos of the assembled rack and gave 0 help. Once we (four of us were trying to figure these out) decided how to assemble them, we struggled for HOURS to put them together and on the roof of my car. They most certainly are not "universal fit." Even once on the car, they weren't sturdy enough to support a kayak, the straps were lightweight and not sufficient to keep the kayaks on, and the plastic hardware broke the second it touched a kayak. After multiple trips to the hardware store, adding ratchet straps, damaging the roof of my car, we created the most sketchy, homemade kayak rack Washington has seen and were finally able to feel confident-ish in driving. Save yourself. Save your kayaks. Save your time. Buy a different rack. Go to a local store. ... show more

  • Works well and easy to install.
Delivered on time. Everything was new and easy to put together. One of the rubber covers got a small cut in it when I first put my kayak on it, but you can see in the photos that my kayak has an edge that rubs against the rubber cover, so not a big deal to me, but I'll be more careful from here on out. ... show more
