This is the very first laser engraver I have owned and it became a new hobby for me right away. I was very impressed with the quality of the laser engraver, well built and great materials. They labeled all parts with detail so assembled it together with no effort at all plus they have video to checking in if needed. The instructions are really detailed and easy to follow. The machine is very steady after assembly. They even included free software in the cf card so you can start doing projects right out of the box. The price is very reasonable for the product and the final projects came out of it are above par. Great buy! ... show more

It has taken me a while to get used to it, but now that I know the basics, nothing advanced, I can use this device to cut excellent shapes, both large to attach to larger items and small to insert screws. Their customer support is fast, helpful, and polite. 5 stars for the whole package!

Assembly was not hard, but the device would not turn on. Support email for Longer does not work nor does thier support phone number on thier website. My only option was to return completly with Amazon.

    • Update. Quit working 4 weeks after purchase

I am updating this review because I was contacted by someone an Longer who was eager to help my situation. This was simply because of my negative review I'm sure. But none the less they reached out to me. They were apologetic for the lack of customer service and I was told that they are working on a 24hr. service call number. I am not sure if this is available yet or not but they seemed convincing that it would happen. I will be looking to see if it does. They offered another Longer Ray 5 which I received a couple of weeks ago and have not had the time to set it up and try it out yet. I am changing my review to a 4 star because of the customer service member that reached out to me and offered to do something for me. I will be doing another update when I get the laser going and will decide on changing the 4 star at that time. For now I am satisfied that Longer is willing to help, even though it would have been nice to have help early on. I purchased this after reading reviews and watching online videos and was hoping for a good experience. It worked great for about 4 weeks. I did a few test burns then made some small logo medallions out of 1/8" plywood. I used it maybe a total of 10 times then the laser quit burning. It will move and follow the design that I made but no laser to burn or cut it. I sent a message to the manufacturer as recommended by Amazon but have had no response. I am down to a couple of days remaining to return it and that is what I am going to do as a non working item is useless to me. ... show more

Update as of 10/15/2024: Customer Service reached out and to make the situation right. They offered me two options. I am updating the review to account for the customer service responsiveness. Even though I returned the product, they still wanted to reach out and try and fix the situation. Good Customer Service experience. After spending time setting up the machine, I went to test it out. I soon realized that the user interface was not the same one as shown on the user guide or other youtube users. It did not have the same options for power adjustments and it did not have the "Sculpture" feature, only "engrave". Spent about two more hours trying to update the firmware, and once that was done, I still had the same problems. I went to LaserGRBL to create a test cut file where it shows different powers and such, and even at then it only engraved, it basically had to heavily char the 3mm wood to "cut" it. Ultimately I am returning because after spending many hours trying to search for solutions I concluded I must either have a different machine than advertised or I have a faulty interface. Very disappointing and VERY frustrating. Also confused why there was no clear instructions on what the UI does to begin with. Had to search many videos to figure it out. ... show more
