Top Amazon Reviews

  • Extremely well packaged good customer service
The media could not be loaded. Update on my first review: so I went through the customer service trouble shooting-they diagnosed a bad laser module… and sent me a new. Here where we pick up. So I began having the same issues a short time later with the new module shutting down on power hungry jobs (high power slow speed-engraving) well after my own troubleshooting I determined the power block was at fault. So what I did was purchase a jesverty 30v 10a desktop power supply for 55$ on Amazon. Spliced the Xtool power chord to some banana clips and voila runs full job without shutting down. Laser is great power chord is Chinese garbage. The desktop power supply provided good stable power. Make sure you know how to use it so you don’t fry your laser. I have mine set to 25v and 6A (max). Plenty of YouTube videos on using these. So I don't usually do a review, but I felt this one deserves a review. On arrival as other have said the packaging is pretty incredible it’s appears laser cut to perfectly fit every piece. Assembly is pretty straight forward, there are high quality pictures and mostly clear directions. With a little bit of compare and contrast I would say a confident beginner “assembler” can put together in an hour or so. One ding though in the instructions… if you have air assist there is a tiny plastic clear cover over the hole where the 90° elbow screws in on the laser. This cover is never mentioned anywhere, it definitely threw me off for a bit figuring out why I couldn’t thread the elbow onto the laser but it only made sense it needed removed. So you’ll need a sharp knife or razor blade to get under neath the clear adhesive cover to pull it off, this could definitely be fixed up a little to match the beauty and easy of the rest of the assembly. I have no experience with other lasers and minimal design software experience. Within 10 minutes of assembly I was on my way to engraving. XCS is very intuitive software with a little time beforehand spent on YouTube or Xtool. Some old cardboard made for some easy practice runs. Now the good/bad/ugly… after building some confidence I started some bigger jobs in the 40+minute range. I found the laser would quit mid job… having no experience I spent many hours scouring YouTube and assumed I had something setup wrong, well it would seem there is and issue with some of the 20w laser heads because Xtool has a dedicated support page just troubleshooting “job completed” but not really error. I followed all troubleshooting steps spent some more hours and finally reached out to Xtool via email. I was contacted with in a couple hours requesting a video of the error which means I had to do it again which only happens after about 30 mins. This was a bit frustrating as I had just spent two days ruining work pieces and now had to do it again. So I set up my phone recorded a 35 minute video, captured the error then had to snip and compress the video into a file size I could email to them. After emailing the video they immediately emailed me back stating they would send a new laser module due to a faulty module. This back and forth was about two days, and I had the new laser in about 4 days. Customer service was great! I was very happy with the fix. So far no issues. So yes it sucks I got a broke one but I was so happy they fixed the problem so quickly with relatively little hassle. All in all I probably have 50 hours of run time and love the machine for my first laser engraver. Customer service was great 👍🏻 thanks Xtool! ... show more

  • Amazing laser burner
This is a very high quality laser burner! I have used a Neje for 4 years, and this blows it out of the water. Very easy to use, and the Creative Space software is SO easy to use! I have etched many types of wood so far, and also slate cup coasters. Do yourself a favor and get this amazing burner!

  • My Thoughts on XTOOL and the D1 Pro 20W
I purchased my XTOOL D1 Pro 20W on May 22, 2023. I'm retired and was looking for a hobby with income potential. At first I thought about getting a router CNC but the expense along with my research changed my mind and I am glad it did. I got the red version along with the extension kit and air assist. I even used it to help me build my enclosure. Hardware and Assembling the laser - Putting the laser together was fairly easy and straight forward. The directions were clear and the pictures helped. My only criticism (actually, just an observation) is that I received the standard Pro 20 before I received my accessories. So I put the standard version together then downloaded the firmware per the directions using the free XCS software XTOOL provides. Then when I received my extension kit, I had to completely dismantle my laser and then rebuild it using the extended wiring and rails. I really don't like doing things twice, so my suggestion is that if someone orders the laser with the extension kit, that the laser should come with the extension kit rather than the standard kit and the extension kit later. To me, that just makes sense. Regardless, other than the additional time it took me to add the extension kit, It went together just like the directions said. After I got the Laser put together with the extension kit, I added the air assist. I would strongly urge anyone buying a laser to also purchase an air assist. It really helps to keep the charring down to a minimum. I also bought XTOOL's dual honeycomb panels. These are a must if you do a lot cutting as they protect the surface of what your laser is sitting on as well as the backside of what your cutting. The RA2 comes with the pro version and to be honest, I have only used it once to engrave a logo on a 20oz. tumbler. After trying to make a circle for my logo, I watched a YouTube video and figured it out. My tumbler came out great. You just have to remember that YouTube is your friend. I've learned a lot from watching it. XTOOL also provides the free software, XCS (XTOOL Creative Spaces). Laser Enclosure - For the first month, I played with the laser, engraving everything I could think of just to see how it would come out. At first, I was disappointed because very few things came out the way I thought they should. YouTube introduced me to SETTINGS. Now I run material settings on just about everything before I do any laser engravings. It doesn't take long to dial in to the correct settings. It just takes practice and patience. I began to engrave on black slate, white tile, wood, canvas and anything else I could think of. I created a little shop in my garage and it didn't take long before I realized I had to do something about the fumes I was causing with my engraving. So after watching a couple of YouTube videos, I created a custom enclosure for my laser with dual 4" exhaust fans, one above and one below the honeycomb panels to take care of the fumes and smell. I also added transparent orange acrylic panels so I could watch the job run without wearing glasses or worrying about my eyes being damaged. Shortly after, I finished my enclosure, XTOOL began to market their own. I wish they had done it sooner as I probably would have just bought theirs and bypassed all of the problems I ran into while trying to put mine together. Regardless, whether you purchase one or build your own, I highly recommend you get one. Breathing in the fumes from engravings are not one bit healthy. Software - XTOOL provides XTOOL's Creative Spaces laser software for free. This software will provide you with everything you need when you first get started. XTOOL also provides weekly updates for their software. Their software is becoming more sophisticated over time as a result of their commitment to making their software more robust as well as being user-friendly. Lightburn is another laser software product and is more capable than XCS in many ways. However, you have to pay for it and unless you are really doing a lot of really sophisticated things, XCS should suit you just fine. To be honest, I also have Lightburn because some things I can do with Lightburn but can't with XCS. Also in XCS's favor is that you can work remotely as it works over WI-FI while Lightburn only works via USB plugin. The main reason I use both products is because it is always nice to have a Plan B. Customer Support - As with any product, there comes a time when you will need customer support. This has happened to me twice since May (7 months). One issue had to do with a stripped set screw on the Z-axis that holds the laser module. The second is was a laser module failure. I hate calling customer support about anything because customer support is either lousy or there are language issues. Needless to say, it was with a little trepidation that I contacted XTOOL's customer support. I am so happy I did. They are the most professional customer support people I have ever had the pleasure of talking to. Not only did they take the time to fully understand my issues, (it took a couple of emails and pictures), but within a week of each issue they sent me a brand new replacement part for each problem free of charge. I don't run into that type of customer support very often. So when I do, I want them to know I really appreciate their commitment to their customers. Summary - There are many, many more good things I could say about XTOOL's products and their Customer Service but lets just say they completely deserve my 5 Star rating! ... show more
