This 6” skillet is exactly what we were looking for. Lodge knows how to make and season their skillets and this little one is no different in their abilities. The pattern on the back is just a bonus. We like egg sandwiches for breakfast and this is just right to cook one egg perfectly.

First, I want to address an answer I was looking for in the other reviews but couldn’t find. One of the reviewers said food was getting stuck in the groves of the design. The design is only on the bottom of the pan that goes against the heat element, not where you put your food. I don’t know if they were trying to use the underside of the pan to make something??? There was what looked like a little nick on the rim of the pan as others mentioned but I wasn’t concerned. I did season the pan 1x before using. Vegetable oil, 425 degrees (25 degrees above the burn point of the oil you choose as is recommended) and 1 hour in the toaster oven. Next day I tested a fried egg and it was absolutely perfect, no sticking. Maybe the 1x season helped. I’m not new to cast iron pans since I have used 3 my grandmother gifted when I got married in 1987 so I know how to care for them. ... show more

    • The bottom design traps water which can lead to rust; but...see below

I don't like the bottom design on the pan...I mean, I like the way it looks, just hate the way it functions. Those tiny ridges cause the water to move in capillary manner that means there is always sitting water on the bottom of the pan in a place you might not look if you are drying it off. Water = rust so I have to spend more time than on my other pans making sure that all those little cracks and crannies are dry. It is super annoying. I want to wipe it off and be done with it...not spending time going over it with a paper towel trying to get all the water out of the crannies. I don't use this pan as often because this annoys me so much. But other than this annoyance it functions well and has even heat distribution. I have ridiculously expensive cookware that I hardly use at all since this is my go too form of cookware. Also, I have to note that I have had anemia my whole life, but that stopped on a dime when I started using cast iron cookware. No more problems. My blood has the perfect amount of iron in it now and I feel good and healthy...this is an FYI for all the ladies out there...really good for anyone who is low in iron in their blood (I am not a doctor, this is my own personal experience with this product). ... show more

Love this little guy. It’s the perfect size for 2 eggs in the morning! I wash it with dish soap once a week and then heat it up on the stove and then add some coconut oil to season.
