I've been wanting a cast iron skillet for a while now because a nurse told me to use one becaue my iron was too low and using cast iron would help. When I saw the Dolly Parton pans I had to buy them! I even bought the TN orange color silicone handle for the pans. It says pre seasoned but I went ahead and seasoned them. I can’t decide if I want to peel the label from the inside of the pan and put it in service or leave it in and hang this pan on the wall as a collector piece. As I already have several Lodge cast iron pans, I know this one is made to the same quality standards as the others I’ve been using for decades. After showing the pan to my mom, I nearly had to fight her off as she seemed to like the second handle formed into the pan, so I may have to get her one of this style as she’s getting up in age and doesn’t have the strength to support the weight of cast iron from a single handle pan. If you are used to the old style pans with smooth surfaces, then you may take issue with the new surface finish in modern Lodge cookware. The rough surface, as I understand it, is part of Lodge’s non-stick finish and has been used by them for quite some time. If it didn’t work, I’m sure they would have changed it by now, but it does work as long as the user follows a few simple cleaning and maintenance steps. Unlike Teflon, ceramic or enamel coated pans, cast iron is “forever wear” and will last many lifetimes if treated properly. ... show more

    • A classic skillet made even better
Lodge is basically the go-to for quality cast iron kitchen implements, so it was hard to go wrong with this pan. The size is versatile for anything from scrambled eggs and bacon to pancakes or chicken. The quality is top notch, and despite the fears some people may have about cast iron, I found it to be very easy to clean and keep seasoned. The key is to wash it right away by hand and put a thin coat of oil on it before putting away. But what makes this pan a real treasure (much like Dolly herself) is the picture of Dolly Parton, which I feel needs to be pointed out is only on the bottom of the pan. You can't see it when you're cooking, meaning food won't get stuck in those grooves. I really wondered when I ordered this because the pictures were unclear and I was worried it wouldn't be good for cooking. But it's perfect. You could hang this up for decoration, but I really recommend using it to cook with, too. Cast iron is fantastic, can be used on any type of heating surface (including glass and induction), and it even adds some iron to your food when you cook for added nutrition. I just love this cast iron skillet. It's a regular CI skillet but it has the image of Dolly on it. I can't wait to try one big pancake to see if the image impresses on it. But, butter my biscuit, this thing is cute as a button! It's heavy, as it should be, and solid as can be. Ooooh Weee can't wait to make a "Berry Pie" ! Ya see what I did there? ;) ... show more

This pan totally encapsulates the high standards for Ms. Parton as well as the Lodge brand. It is quite beautiful with the iconic print of Dolly on the bottom. The pan is beautiful in addition to the art though. Quality is magnificent as expected from this brand. The iron is smooth and perfectly finished. The Lodge 10.25 Inch Dolly Parton Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet is a fantastic addition to my kitchen, complementing my larger lodge cast iron skillet perfectly. I love the even heating and excellent heat retention these skillets provide, and this one is no exception. The size is perfect for cooking 1-2 ribeyes or frying up some crispy bacon in the morning. The pre-seasoned surface ensures that food doesn't stick, making both cooking and cleaning simple.
