The "car part" is a good one in terms of control ability, motor sound, "jumpiness", but where the toy really shines is the "robot part". Besides great looks, the robot is very stable for a two-legged creature. Takes standard alkaline batteries, the remote also works well with rechargeable batteries (have not tried rechargeable batteries in the car). The range of remote is quite impressive. Anyway, my both sons are probably better judges of and experts on this toy: they have been mesmerized by it for a week, and we may have to get another copy to reduce their "arguing time". My son is a big transformers fan, and he liked it very much. The color is nice - bright yellow, but not too flashy. The transformation works nicely, and it moves well too. My kids really like this car. It transforms very quickly. The remote has a button which makes the car transform a few times, spins around, and drives a little. If you use the button, be sure to give the car some room. I bought a second car so both kids have one.
