I purchased this Liberty Garden hose reel and am supremely happy I did. It is extremely well made of steel with rubber easy-rolling tires, and a cinch to put together with excellent how-to instructions. The whole thing is solid and sturdy without being heavy, holds a lot of hose securely (I hand feed it to guide it back onto reel), lets the hose out effortlessly, and makes hose-handling easy in every way. I was not surprised to see the same one at my local Whole Foods store for plants outside. Good enough for them and good enough for me and for you, too. Wellafter a couple of years the cart came apart. I spent a littl;e dismanteling the reel holder from the carty. It was not that difficult but a few notes for here. One the bolts are metric, secondly all of the plumbing parts are made of brass great no rust BUT the brass T that connects to the reel connects to a steel piece which means rust. Why thery did not use all brass I do not know. Brass cleans upo so much better. It also had a rubber washer around the steel threaded male piece on the reel. I removed it and it gave me more room to screw on the brass T. That is where it came apart. It is a good hose reel just some observations on repairing it. ... show more

Assembly was straight forward and would have been easy if all the parts had been there. Upon opening the box the washers and bolts for the wheel axel’s were loose in the box, two of the bolts and one of the washers were missing, requiring a 50 round trip to the hardware store to get replacements. One thing that would be helpful is a small tube of loc tite to make sure that the bolts on the frame, and the brass fitting that attaches to hose real stay secure. ... show more

I purchased this hose real in the spring of 2014. I have 3 - 5/8" x 100' heavy duty hose lengths on the reel. Once filled with water, it's a lot of weight and this thing moves it vey easily. I'm in Wisconsin so I drain the hoses and store it indoors from November to March but it has really held up well. Have I had a few problems? Yes. One of the tires went flat last summer so I replaced that. The leader hose also ended up springing a leak this year but it was due to the way I was bending it when pulling away from the house. And it took 3 1/2 seasons of abuse before that happened. I water flowers throughout the yard EVERY DAY. Also, is there some rust? YES! It's a hose reel. It sits outside in the elements and gets wet. It's going to rust. Unless it's the centerpiece of your landscape I don't think a few small specks of rust, or rusty bolts on the wheel hubs are that big of a deal. It still functions perfectly fine. In fact, more than that. It functions perfectly. It doesn't tip over when winding/unwinding the hose, it rolls very easily with lots of weight and it winds/unwinds almost effortlessly. What more could you ask for? Why does your hose reel need to sparkle? I see comments about people putting clear coat and taking other action to keep it from rusting. Why don't you get your buffer out once a month and wax it like a car. That might help! But if you don't care about the appearance of your hose reel, this is the unit for you! Even if you do care about the appearance of your hose reel, the entire thing isn't a pile of rust. There's a few small spots here and there and some of the hardware has rusted over. It's really not a big deal. Don't let that discourage you from this unit. 4/27/2022 UPDATE: Still going strong! No changes to my above comments. We've moved houses so it's at a new location but working just as good as ever. ... show more

There is nothing "industrial" about this hose reel cart. The item is poorly designed and is poorly built. The item uses small diameter tubing resulting in a flimsy cart. The reel is on the small side and uses an odd and not durable hose attachment mechanism. The welds on the tubing are open (not closed/sealed) which results in a weaker weld and more importantly allows water into the unprotected tubing which will exacerbate rust issues. The item claims to be "powder coated", but it is NOT. The finish easily chips and flakes like poor quality paint (not powder coat). Powder coat is a resin that is heat fused to the base metal. It is desirable because it very durable and does not chip or flake like paint. However, the item I received had a poor finish that had many chips exposing bare metal that already had rust right out of the box. In summary, this is JUNK. After just 1 year, the item rusted out and failed. The paint just flacked off with rust underneath. As the pictures show, my new unit even came pre-rusted out of the box. Check out the many reviews that state rust is a problem. Also note that RUST and moving parts are explicitly EXCLUDED in the warranty, which makes the WARRANTY USELESS. Compared to my old 4 wheel hose cart (similar to the green carts offered by others on Amazon), this item is junk. My 15 year old green cart (also made in China) is larger, more sturdy, uses larger diameter tubing with fully closed welds, and the finish on it after 15 years has fewer chips than this band new cart. You are better off buying a high quality resin cart than this one. ... show more
