Not that Giraffe needs another good review, but this thing is great! I'm an avid gardener with a 3/4 acre lot and four outdoor hose bibs. I ordered one of these as a test drive and I'm going to add one or two a month until I have one on every hose bib. Super easy to install with one minor gripe: no one has a 7/16" drill bit. The plastic anchors they give you are a little flimsy and will bend when you try to tap them into the 3/8" hole. You have to work the hole a little so that the anchors will go in, and I used other 3/8" anchors I already had instead. OR, Giraffe could recognize this reality and send standard sized anchors and bolts! Otherwise, very easy install. Oh, and you'll want to get some rubber hose washers for the leader hose as none were included and it will leak without that. Aside from trivial install issues, using the hose is a major game changer for a large property. No more piles of hoses or getting dirty trying to manually reel in or coil. TL;DR, I would buy it again, but wouldn't recommend it to someone unless they understood what they were getting. ~~Findings~~ - Mounts to the wall well enough, but requires better wall anchors than what comes in the box. It's not worth even trying the ones that come with. - It's a 1/2" hose. It's advertised as a 1/2" hose. You're not going to get the same output as a 1" hose. Of course. Too many reviews stated "they wished for more output" or "it can't keep up with my other garden hose", and it's a shame because this product is awesome in the 1/2" hose category. - It mounts well enough to brick, but if you don't know how to mount things to brick, it would likely be a pain in the butt. Even if you do know how to mount things to brick, it can be a pain in the butt. Just know, in general, it's going to be more effort than you think to mount it, wherever you mount it. - It's not a "heavy duty" hose. The bracket may be metal, but it's a 1/2" hose. It's perfect for watering your flowers or filling soap buckets or rinsing your car, but it will never output the volume of water necessary to make larger tasks convenient. e.g., Washing thick mud off your car or driveway. All in all, it's plenty good for what it is, and I would buy it again, but if you're looking for a retractable version of what you'd buy at [insert hardware store of choice here], this isn't that. ... show more

this is our second one. just as the first did, this one went off reel when returning the hose (by hand, as we always do) and they replaced it after sending a pic and a video. great item to work with, and it really works. the hose returns... you just need to ALWAYS do it by hand, as we do.

The product itself is decent, probably better suited in the $80 range. Everything on this reel is made of plastic and seems too weak to last when pulling a hose, we'll see I guess. My biggest complaint is that the mounting did not go as detailed in the booklet. The instructions are simple step-by-step and don't require much knowledge to accomplish. I followed these steps to the letter and the top lag bolts won't catch the anchors to hold the reel in place. The bolts couldn't even hold the standalone weight of the unit. I had to run to the store to get a better set of anchors to hold in place so I didn't have to patch 4 holes in my wall and try again. I recommend the use of better anchors when hanging. ... show more

The good: it worked well when it worked. Retraction was great and strong. Soiled up nicely every time never got snagged or hung up. The bad: After 2.5 months of weekly use and the white thing that coils it nicely just broke off. Sometimes it kinks, but honestly not more then any other hose I’ve used. Support has been great! Contacted them after my initial review when I saw other reviews talking about the 2 year warranty, I was also contacted by them offering a replacement. Way better than I expected. So that’s been fantastic. I have I hopes the new one will last as long as others have mentioned in thier reviews. ... show more
