Excellent set of knives! My husband is very satisfied. He is the cook in the family. He had some fun slicing through paper just like on commercials for high end knives. Be careful to not cut yourself accidentally as they are very sharp!

The first set I received had a couple defects—one of the handles had a small gash in it, another knife had a rivet that was not flush with the handle, and another knife had a scratch on the metal. I ordered a replacement set which was fine; no defects. Overall these knives are excellent! Very sharp, the right kind of weighty, and they cut much better than my previous set. The balancing is done as the proper grip point on the tang, rather than at the underside notch (so slightly more forward toward the blade than cheapo knives). They feel excellent in my hand. The only thing I don’t like is the metallic shimmer they added to the steel, as it makes the wavy patterns almost look laser-etched. However I don’t believe it is—the folds have unique patterns (I compared the replacement set to the original), and you can see slight topography where the metal is folded. For the price, I would recommend these knives. ... show more

Love this set!! Knives come SUPER sharp and ready to use. Block is nice and sturdy. Great addition to any kitchen. Make sure you hand wash the knives after each use and putting them in the dishwasher will not only dull the blades, but may also leave spots depending on your water. I had a set of Henkels and I like that set and used it for more than 5 years. But it was time for an updated set and the value for this set with all the pieces is great! The scissors cut through chicken bone without problems. I'm a huge fan of the Santuko, the Chefs, and the pairing knives. Been using for 6 months and have not had to sharpen them yet. These are like mini samurai swords. They are probably 3x heavier than a normal stainless blade. Feel like you are ready to do battle. The feeling of actually cutting a carrot, not chopping ... wow . The instructions say need to keep a light oil on them to prevent slight rusting, yet dishwasher safe (?) .hmm.. if you are lazy cleaner perhaps not for everyone. These are real steel . ... show more
