Wow. I’m a hard sell and usually don’t waste time writing reviews unless I’m totally impressed or unbelievably disappointed with a product. I started cooking when I was ten years old. I learned how to properly sharpen and hone a knife before I reached puberty. This is absolutely the most functionally amazing knife set I’ve used. Ever. Razor sharp when I received them and I’ve been using them regularly and haven’t needed to sharpen them in about two weeks. If you’re used to the crap they try to pawn off as “quality” in the big-box stores locally, do yourself a favor and look for a flash sale, invest the cost and I’d have to say that I’d guarantee that there is not a chance that you’ll feel any disappointment in these knives. Also, they are just freakin beautiful! I felt not one shred of buyers remorse in purchasing these knives when I opened the box and when I used them, and that’s pretty rare for me. I bought these knives and they're very sharp and very distinctive. The Damascus is definitely unique and real. The quality is there and they're really nice in and out of the block. The block is also very nice and the set is beautiful. Sadly, I had to return them because the steak knives, the handles were just a smidge too short and it felt awkward and uncontrolled. ...nothing like holding a extremely sharp knife, cutting steak and it slips and accidentally cut yourself. Not a fan of the medical industry these days, so anything i can do to avoid thqt place/industry, i will. Anyway...So, these were returned, as hard as it was (like a bad breakup), and I'll be ordering another set from Nanfang, Damascus of course, except no steak knives in the set this time. Great knives - all of them. The larger handled knives were exceptional in both feel and performance, to include control. Now.. I just need to decide which set from Nanfang I'll replace this return with? Maybe the same one or perhaps the grey as that's quite sharp looking but im leaning towards the black block set, so we'll see.. ... show more

We have bought a lot knife sets over the years and so far, this one is the best. It hold a sharp edge for a long time and just needs to have burs knocked down once a month with the steel to stay sharp
