Using herbal dyes is always harder then regular box colors, it is usually very grainy and hard to apply without it falling everywhere! Not this one! The powder is very fine which makes it much easier to use a solid paste. For a dark brown hair try mixing a little of "blue black" into "ash brown". Everyone is different, you will need to find your own formula. It takes 2 applications to completely cover the grey, but it works! If you have a lot of grey and want highlights, find a proper mix for your hair color and grey will look like beautiful highlights. If you are new to herbal dyes it will take some experimentation to get it right. The good news is that you can keep experimenting and not worry about damaging your hair! ... show more

I like this natural hair dye! You feel like a chemist mixing it up with the exact the hot water temperature and it's a funky swamp green mixture. I like the color a lot. I started with a white blonde base and I'm really glad I got the color prep. Has to sit on your hair for an hour but i didn't mind. Read a book and did the dishes in that time. If you're patient and good with directions I recommend this hair dye! ... show more

I usually get my hair colored in a salon or from a typical box brand but decided to try this because of the lack of harsh, toxic chemicals. The product is prepped differently then regular hair dye. It needs to be maintained at a certain temperature before applying depending on the color. The instructions provided will tell you the proper temperature. The product is messy so be sure to wear proper clothing and cover your floors. Apply with your hands or a brush. Warning….this product smells awful! Basically like wet tree roots! Anyway…after applying, place the plastic cap on your head and wrap with a towel (not a good one) this will keep the temperature of the product warm. Leave on for the recommended time. Rinse with warm water and prepare yourself for more of that wonderful wet tree root smell! Unfortunately, you will smell that for the next few days while washing your hair! It’s pretty bad but I have to say that my color turned out really well! I didn’t leave the henna on nearly as long as the recommended because I got a little nervous and I’m glad I didn’t. It came out darker than expected but it looked beautiful and I felt better knowing it is non toxic. But oh that smell… ... show more

    • DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
I purchased the shampoo and the Natural Hazel hair color…..almost $50.00! First of all, I tried to wash my hair with the shampoo and it did nothing! I used so much….but I rinsed it out and readied my hair to put the color on. It was a tangled mess! Unless you go in and read ALL of the instructions, you wouldn’t know (as I didn’t) that you would need a thermometer to temper the water that you mix with the powder. Nor would you know that you have to sit the bowl of color into another bowl of warm water so the color does not get cold! It was a total MESS! I followed the instructions EXACTLY….put the color on, the cap, a towel over the cap, and waited for one hour! I rinsed it out thoroughly and I couldn’t even run my fingers through my hair…..another tangled mess! I ended up putting a little conditioner on the ends so that I could comb it out. I dried and styled my hair, as usual. The gray roots were still gray with a little bit of orange tinge! It looked awful! I waited 48 hours hoping it would darken as the instructions mentioned……no such luck! I went out and bought a semi-permanent color and used it…..it actually covered the roots a lot better than this. I called Amazon, but the gentleman did not understand what I was describing. I got an email from the company saying that they were sorry that I bought the wrong color (which is what the Amazon rep told them). I wrote them back and told them most of what I wrote here AND I wrote a similar feedback…..don’t know if it’s the same as a review! I should have been refunded my money, but nothing like that, so far. Oh, and after I found this color with no chemicals, I told my sister about it. She ordered two and told me to let her know how it came out. I couldn’t call her fast enough to tell her to send them back which she did right away! UPDATE: The company emailed me and offered to send a color and better instructions OR give me a refund. I am going to opt for the refund. I do appreciate their offers! ... show more

First of all the customer service is absolutely top notch. There were problems with delivery and I was convinced that it was lost. After couple of emails they sent me replacement package. All the time they were professional and super nice. I ordered couple of products amongst them henna in color hazelnut and auburn because I planned to mix these two colors. Till now I was using henna ash brown and I wanted to add reddish tone to my hair and it went exactly how I wanted. Henna makes your hair shiny and thicker but that thickens comes off with time. Its really easy to use and in contrast to chemical dye it actually makes your hair healthy. 10/10 ... show more

I like it. I used lush henna before, which I also love, but I feel this one it’s easier to clean than lush. I tried medium brown but it turned too dark. My hair is dark with some grey. This henna leaves it brown and my grey turns into red highlights. I like it.
