    • heavy, but not as stable as I expected

This thing came in a humongous box with no padding around it. Fortunately, the base was intact in my case, but stone cracks easily and Amazon should have put padding in the box -- which they didn't. The box is also heavy. The delivery person left it hanging off the stoop onto the grass. I suppose that's because the huge box is hard to navigate, but I had trouble getting it into the house. Assembly is a bit ticky on this one. It's hard to keep the screws in long enough to get the parts put together I discovered that the little spherical balls at the ends of the hooks, and the pointy one at the top, should be pounded gently with a rubber mallet, to keep them stable, otherwise they'll just fall off. The instructions don't tell you that. It does look good, once assembled. It's also not so hard to carry once it's assembled. It definitely feels sturdier than the old wooden one that broke. ... show more

I was looking for a strong, sturdy coat rack because my cat and dog knocked my bamboo rack over chasing each other. Plus I had a lot of coats on it. So I read the descriptions on this and bought it. It was easy to assemble, thank goodness, cuz I don’t read directions well. I rearranged my coats and took a few off and so far it holding out. It is very sturdy. I liked everything about the product but the base was cracked from one end to the other. It functions fine but ugly to look at the bottom. I hid it in the corner of my office. Three days later company reaches out to me to either refund 100% or replace marble base. Kudo's to them for actually following thru and resolving my issue. I bought this in a hurry because having a Christmas party and not much place for coats, purses, etc. It’s a beautiful coat rack. The marble base is beautiful, heavy, stable. The pole and hooks also beautiful, and plenty of hooks. I love the rounded tips. It’s tall but narrow and takes up very little space. Fits by my front door perfectly. Really a classy look. Please note that these comments are based solely on my personal experience, and with a sample size of one. Having said this, I want to outline some pros and cons for this product. Pros: ------------ Attractive - The coating matches our flooring and lighting. The base is also attractive. Sturdy - Parts are bolted together, so there is no wiggle room or loose parts. Relatively Stable - The heavy base contributes to a relatively stable product, and the perfectly flat base ELIMINATES wobble. Cons you do not expect from a more expensive product: ----------------------------------------------------------------- Poor to no quality control - The bottom pole arrived with a large and highly visible dent right out of the box, and one of the rod ends would not accept any end caps because the pipe was too wide (requiring additional work to make it fit). Coating is fragile - While tightening the screws, you could remove some of the white coating (even with the rubber washers). I did not attempt to return this product thus I have no feed-back regarding their customer service, however, comparing this product to what it replaced, it seems more stable and more functional with additional hooks (Something I would expect when I pay ~$60 more). Altogether, I would recommend this product for its esthetics and functionality despite my perception of serious failure in quality control. ... show more
