I wasn't expecting great things from this cheap knife set with the magnetic strip. Frankly I wanted the strip itself for some existing knives, but I have to say, the knives were pretty good to my surprise. For someone who wants a basic set of kitchen knives, you could do worse. The chef's knife comes razor sharp and has a plastic grip that's easy to hold. It's coated with a special non stick paint of some kind that is bumpy to the touch, but has not chipped off so far, and the knife cuts well. It's not too big, nor is it heavy, but it will chop vegetables and trim meat, so it's decent. The bread knife is definitely on the short side and won't handle any big home made loaves, but it will slice a loaf of French bread well. The other three knives are smaller cousins to the chef's knife and built of the same material. I haven't run these through multiple dish washer cycle yet, but they will not rust easily, given their special coating. Just keep those plastic handles away from any strong heat source or they might melt. But overall, this is a nice set, and the magnetic strip attaches to any wall with the adhesive patches sent with this set and has real screws and anchors too , if you want to attach it more permanently, ... show more

I wasn't expecting a lot out of these knives, given their price point. They arrived sharp with a good edge and cut nicely out of the box. Add the fact that it comes with a magnetic knife block and it's a pretty good deal. I've seen many magnetic knife blocks that cost more than this entire set. The knives cut well, but they're a bit small and the plastic handles add no weight so they're a bit awkward to hold. The "Chef's" is too thin to actually be a real Chef's knife and the bread knife is pretty short. Time will tell if the coating will start to chip or rub off. For now they're nice backup knives when my main knives are dirty, and I don't mind if they get banged up. Well worth the $10. ... show more

I liked how sharp these knives are right out of the box. I also liked the fact they are dishwasher safe. The handles feel too small on the two smaller knives, which I didn't like because it makes it easier to cut yourself without a good grip. The magnetic strip seems a good size and should be easy to attach if needed. For the variety of types of knives and the quality I think these are a very good value. ... show more

Obviously, you are not going to get heirloom quality knives at the price. But you will get five sharp, though thin knives and a magnetic bar to hang them from. Frankly I think I would have paid the price for the magnetic holder alone. It comes with parts for either adhesive or hardware installation. I’m not sure how long these knives can be expected to perform, but I am going to hang a a few of my other knives on that knife bar, right along with a few of the new knives. As I mentioned, the knives themselves are quite thin. They are somewhat flexible. And work well enough for light peeling, slicing, and chopping. Don’t attempt to attack a frozen roast, or slice through bone. The knives are not designed to do that. But if you use them properly and respectfully this set can do most of what most homes require. ... show more

This is a great knife set with good display quality. The set includes the magnetic strip with two different hardware options for attaching it to your wall(drill or no drill). Each knife is very sharp and you get one for most types of cooking prep needs you may have. The media could not be loaded. I used this bread knife to cut my baked sourdough bread. Its a little hard to cut through and it takes a while but I was able to cut the bread into slices. I was impressed with this knife set, for the price I wasn't expecting anything great. But these are pretty solid. You get 5 different knives, and the magnetic holding rack. The rack holds the knives very well, it's a strong magnet it seems. Comes with mounting hardware or suction cup hooks. I'm not sure if these can be sharpened due to the coating on it... so that's something to consider if purchasing. For the price though, these are a great value and I was impressed! ... show more
