I recently received this chair, and so far, it has been a positive experience. The seat cushion is quite comfortable, and even though I haven't used mesh material before, the backrest is surprisingly nice. It is neither intrusive nor flimsy; in fact, it is quite firm. However, I do have an issue with the armrests. While they haven't fallen apart like some reviewers have mentioned, they don't come up tall enough. When I lay my arms to the side, they work fine, but when I use my keyboard, my elbows don't even touch the armrests. This is disappointing, especially considering that it's a big and tall chair. I have ordered aftermarket foam pads to increase the height slightly, but it's strange that the armrests don't extend as far as expected. If good armrests are important to you, you may want to consider another chair. Despite the armrest issue, the overall comfort of the chair is pretty solid. I also added aftermarket casters for carpeted floors, and they work well. The original casters that came with the chair were suitable for office use, but if you plan to use the chair on a hard surface, they may not be adequate. Overall, for a chair that doesn't cost $2000 like the ones I would prefer, this one seems to be acceptable. I will provide a more detailed review in the future as I use it for a longer period, but for now, I would rate it a solid seven out of ten or three stars. One notable aspect is that the chair doesn't squeak or rub at all. Another thing I appreciate about the Hon brand is the excellent craftsmanship. All the drill holes were perfectly aligned, and there was no cloth covering them. There were no misalignments with the metal parts that required drilling for the screws. It's surprisingly rare to find this level of precision in office chairs within this price range. Assembling the chair was easy, and it took me less than 20 minutes to put it all together. The included Allen wrench was sturdy, which I appreciated. One area that could use improvement is the piston. It doesn't rise as high as I would like, which is peculiar for a tall or big and tall chair. I'm 6'1" and it's fine for me, but if you're between 6'2" and 6'7", I highly recommend getting an aftermarket piston that can extend to a taller height. This chair won't be sufficient for you, and you may experience hip and leg problems. Some other reviews mention that the seat pan is a bit short, but as a fairly big guy weighing over 350 pounds, I haven't encountered any issues. It supports me well, and I don't experience slipping, sliding, or fatigue. However, it's still early, and time will be the ultimate test. This Chair is unbelievable! I have owned this chair for over Two Years now and sit in it for hours each day. Very little wear; extremely durable. The wheels are even original! I used to buy other "Big and Tall" chairs every Six Months. I highly recommend and would definitely purchase again!

I am 5'2" and 317, and I read a lot of reviews of chairs before settling on this one because the one I would have preferred was over $1000. As I was warned, the seat does not lower enough for my feet to reach the floor without a foot rest, but since I have one that is quite comfortable that is not an issue for me. Surprisingly, the depth of the seat from the chair back to the front edge is comfortable. Many of the chairs I looked at, the seat was too deep. The foam cushion is quite thick, and as I am at my desk up to 12 hrs/day, I am very satisfied with it. It also does not cut off the circulation to my lower limbs despite not having a waterfall edge. I've read complaints regarding the tilt feature, but as I prefer to sit upright at my desk, that was not an issue I had to consider when choosing this chair. The weave of fabric on the seat is a little rough and can be uncomfortable on bare legs after a while. I replaced the casters with aftermarket rollerblade wheels which are much more appropriate for our ceramic tile floors. I also took note in the reviews that there were some complaints regarding the too firm arm rests that crumbled after a few months of use and choose to order padded arm rest covers that fit over the ones on the chair and are held in place with elastic rather like a shower cap. This makes the arm rests much more comfortable and I hope will prevent them from becoming damaged, but they are thick enough to raise the level of the arms by about 1/2 in. Even though the chair's arms are adjustable, this can take some getting used to. The back of the chair is very upright in the position I prefer, but is not too tall for my comfort. Putting it together was somewhat time consuming and the chair is HEAVY. Check the delivery box and the parts carefully before you assemble the chair because taking it apart and repacking it if for some reason it must be returned did not look like it would be fun, but my chair arrived in perfect condition with all parts. From the reviews I read, the preventative measures I have taken should circumvent most of the issues that would arise over time and this chair should last several years at least, and was the most durable, affordable option with the least number of potential issues of the choices available on Amazon and elsewhere. ... show more
