  • Awesome heater!
Pattern Name: 100W
Awesome heater! I bought the 100w for my 20 gal and it has worked perfectly for over 4 months no problems!

  • Good news! It does shatter safely when I'm a careless dumdum.
Pattern Name: 100W
I use two of these, one in my tank and one to heat my buckets for water changes. Today I messed up by doing exactly what the description tells you not to do—I left it running while not submerged. "It'll be fine," I said, "I'll be right back with new water, it'll be out for less than a minute." Like a genius. Well, the perfectly predictable happened. By the time I got back (more than a minute later), it was overheating and sizzling itself dry. Then, like a genius who didn't take physics in high school, I thought, "Well, I'd better put it back in the new water to cool it down!" As advertised, this heater did not explode. It shattered in a perfectly safe fashion, with a couple of large, easily visible chunks of glass falling straight down into the bucket, no flying shrapnel, etc. Most of the glass just cracked and hung together for a few more minutes while I cooled it down to throw it away, though the bottom quarter or so did eventually fall off. A worse made product could have absolutely exploded and sent shrapnel flying when I did the dumb thing I did. Nothing is unbreakable when you add human error to the mix, but you can make things break comparatively safely, and this heater did that. I've ordered another to replace it. ... show more

  • Heater works well and heats.
Pattern Name: 300W
The media could not be loaded. Heater appears to be well built heat well for my hundred gallon tank. I have another one as well and comes with extra suction cups. I think we would recommend I have two for my hundred gallon tank.

  • Runs a bit on the hot side but a great buy as an emergency backup heater.
Pattern Name: 50W
So, we Bought 2 of these as backups for a hospital tank as well another. They are great for the money, but I will say they tend to run a bit on the hot side so just make sure you have a good thermometer in the tank to also keep track of things. The suction cups are extremely strong on both, so if you don't want them to come out of your tank these are perfect. They do come off don't worry they are just extremely hard to pry off which is a good thing. Otherwise, the only thing I would have done different with these is to have some sort of covering around the glass bulb to protect any fish from possibly getting burnt on the glass but luckily most of my fish stay away from it right now. ... show more

  • Decent heater
Pattern Name: 50W
I bought a couple of these heaters for my two aquariums and i must say, they are a good deal for the price. They heat up the water quickly and maintain a consistent temperature, which is what I'm looking for in an aquarium heater. The adjustable temperature control makes it easy to set the perfect temperature for your fish. My neighbor has some tropical fish that require warmer water than mine (he thinks they're more exotic), but this heater can handle it no problem. ... show more

  • Great Value Aquarium Heater – Works Well!
Pattern Name: 300W
The Hitop 300W Adjustable Aquarium Heater is a great value for the price. It heats my 40 gallon tank quickly and maintains a stable temperature, which is important for keeping my fish healthy. The adjustable temperature control is easy to use, and the submersible glass design feels sturdy and well-made. I also have a second one for heating water for my water changes. Love how quickly it can heat up 10-15 gallons of water. This heater is suitable for tanks up to 70 gallons, making it a great option for larger setups. It’s also affordable compared to other heaters with similar features. Overall, it’s a simple, effective, and budget-friendly aquarium heater that gets the job done. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • It's a tank heater.
Pattern Name: 50W
Heating element in a glass tube. Pretty simple but also very critical. The best part of this is the temperature adjustment. These have gotten much better and more accurate over the years. Previous versions 10-15 years ago could have as high as +/- 3-4 degrees f. The newer ones I've used seem to be much more accurate at whatever temp you set them on. Also, the glass used is much better quality so the fear of putting your hand into a tank to remove it and getting shocked (not electrocuted) is much rarer if at all these days. Decades ago that WAS a reality many times. As for the suction cups that hold the heater in your tank I chose not to use them. My tank is loaded with coraline algae since it's a reef tank so any hope of having a clear spot on my tank wall is a fantasy. It stays in place by creating a drip loop and only having an inch or two of cord going over the top and side of my upper tank. I set it a while ago and after 2-3 months of temp checks it's less than 1 degree f of difference. For the money it's definitely a good buy. And when it comes to heaters and pumps I ALWAYS have spares! You don't want to have either one of those two go out on you and not have time to get to a pet supply store in a reasonable amount of time, especially with lots of coral in your tank. It's a very worthwhile investment and safeguard! ... show more

  • NOT SAFE!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!!
Pattern Name: 100W
Purchased on Jan 29. Seemed to work fine and hold temp around 80. Went away on vacation Feb 7-15. Came back home to find the water gone in the tank. We keep about 4 gallons of water in our turtle tank which has never been an issue in 6 years with other heaters. Heater malfunctioned and basically boiled all the water out of the tank. Not sure how the turtle survived but he did. The tank water filter burned out due to no water left in the tank. House smelled like burnt plastic. Could have caused a fire. ... show more
