Description

The Fluval E Heaters continuously monitor and display aquarium water temperature, ensuring the well-being of your aquarium inhabitants. The E Series features VueTech technology. With the easy to use adjustment lever, the temperature can be precisely set in 0.5° increments. Its LCD display delivers peace of mind by continuously showing real time water temperatures. During normal operation, the temperature readout will change color if the water varies +/-2 degrees F or more from the pre-set temperature. If any external heat sources or other equipment, such as chillers, cause the aquarium water temperature to rise or fall beyond 5.5 °F, the colored screen will flash, indicating a potential risk. The ability to measure temperature in Celsius is also an option. The integrated fish guard offers advanced protection. Fish and invertebrates cannot come into direct contact with the heater core. The glass sleeve is also protected against shocks from large fish species. Built with a secure slim profile mounting bracket, it can be adjusted or removed without removing the mounting bracket. For those with a marine aquarium and sump, you can also attach the Fluval E heater there.WARNING: The heater must never be operated outside of the aquarium. If the water level falls below the minimum water level MIN, the thermostat can no longer "read” the water temperature and therefore can no longer control the heating correctly. If it has to be taken out of the water or when transferring or changing the water, disconnect the heater from the power source and wait for at least 30 minutes to allow it to cool down. • Perfect
Style: E200 Pattern Name: Heater
Gone through several heaters and this one has lasted the longest so far. It's easy to read and easy to change the temp. Very happy with it. I have it in a 39 gallon tank and it has no problem bringing it up from colder water with water changes either.

  • Fluval E 200 - Best Aquarium Heater I've Ever Owned
Style: E200 Pattern Name: Heater
First off, I'm a Mechanical Engineer with 31 years of experience and have a considerable amount of experience related to heat transfer. I've also kept aquariums for 36 years and currently have 3. I've had a Fluval E 200 watt heater in a 75 gallon tank for almost 3 years and it's performed flawlessly. I've read tons of reviews stating the low flow warning is a problem, but that warning is an attribute of this heater. Tank heaters are very compact for the amount of heat they generate and must exchange the heat to their surroundings efficiently or they'll burn themselves out. Just imagine grabbing an old fashioned 100 watt incandescent light bulb that's been on for several minutes .... now imagine that it's a 200 or 300 watt bulb! Also think about the fact that the largest portable space heater you can buy and plug into a standard 120 Volt wall receptacle is 1500 watts. That'll give you a perspective of how much energy 200 or 300 watts is. So yes, you absolutely need water flowing over the heater to carry heat off as opposed to it only heating the immediate area and then shutting off. My 75 gallon tank is fully covered and is in my basement which is typically 63 - 66 degrees in the winter and this 200 watt heater has always kept it within 1/2 degree of the 77 degree setting. I've had many different tank heaters through the years and will never buy anything but these again. As many others have said, being able to just glance over and see the green display indicating that the water temp is within 2 degrees of set point is very nice! I literally look at it every night before going to bed and casually glance at it during the day without even focusing on what the temp actually is. I'm sure many have had defective units but these heaters are wonderful when functioning properly. Oh and I put zero value into reviews stating any heater won't work when the operating conditions aren't given. How many gallons is the tank, what's the ambient air temp, is the aquarium fully covered, etc, need to be known to evaluate whether sufficiently sized. Putting a 1500 watt heater in a well insulated 300 square foot room in your house will keep it toasty; putting that same heater in your outdoor shed in the winter ..... won't help much. One last thing, I'm absolutely not a fan of putting a heater that's considerably larger than required in a tank as I've seen advised many times. All heaters will eventually fail and if it fails in the on mode, I don't want to cook my fish. I'd much rather have 2 smaller heaters in a tank than 1 over sized heater. That way if one fails and won't shut off, the other heater either won't come on at all, or will intermittently cycle to make up what the stuck heater can't do. Heaters are designed to work and will last just fine even if they run a majority of the time. In fact many products will actually last longer if they can just run as opposed to "short cycling" as when they're considerably over sized. I have a Clown Loach that's between 8 - 10 years old and I have no intention of allowing a faulty heater to kill it or any other fish under my watch. ... show more

  • inaccurate but works well
Style: E200 Pattern Name: Heater
After some initial issues with it holding the desired temp in a 45 gallon tank with a room ambient of 70, it is finally working. I have it set to 76.5 (the actual water temp is 77) the display over 24 hrs shows everything from 75 ,75.5, 76 and 76.5) the actual temp during the 24 hour period is and has been 77. So although it is in the green, it is erratic. Yes the temp probe i am using is professional and taking the reading from the same area of flowing water that the heaters thermostat sees. I have a Fluval 307 filter (love it!) and it's output is flowing right towards the vertically mounted heater so I have never once had the LowFlow (LF) display. I wish I could understand why it is so hard for the manufacturer to make a heater that accurately reflects the Actual water temp. Is it the close proximity to the heater coils (wouldn't make sense in my case as it's reading cooler then actual H2O temp). If it's a feature of the heater to display the temp. of the water, shouldn't it be accurate? I have an external digital temp. readout that is .5 off (china) and a K-Type Thermocouple (USA) attached to a Fluke meter that is .001 dead on accurate. There is a lot of room for improvement and a giant market place begging for a great heater series for our tanks, food for thought Haggen. I do recommend this heater just make sure you have an accurate way to read the actual water temp. please. Do not trust the display! ... show more

  • Working well.
Style: E200 Pattern Name: Heater
I've gone through a number of heaters and, so far, this one is working better than the rest. On the plus side, this keeps the temp within +/- .5 degree (F) of where I set it and doesn't fluctuate much at all. Since that's what I want out of a heater, this one fits the bill. The LED back-lit LCD display is nice and makes checking the temp very handy with just a glance at the color. The microprocessor control makes setting the temp easy, as well. A flick of the switch in either direction will alter the setting by .5 degrees (F). Although not advertised as such, based on my research, I'm using mine fully submerged without issues. I read about issues with these being underpowered, but in my 29 gallon high, the 200 watt works great. My water is at a steady 77.2 degrees. The plastic guard is a unique feature and, I suppose, helps make sure no fish get injured. But, I've never had that issue, so I think it's more about aesthetics than anything else. On the negative side, this is definitely larger than most other heaters of a similar rating. As you are not supposed to use it in a horizontal configuration, it might be too long for shallow aquariums. While the built-in thermometer is very steady, it's not accurate. Mine is approximately 2 degrees low. At the factory default of 77, my water temp was 79.3 based on both my digital thermometer and standard glass thermometer. Turning it down to 75 is fine, but since it will reset to 77 automatically after being powered off (or a power outage), that's somewhat annoying. Overall, this is one of the better heaters I've used. If the thermometer were more accurate, I'd give it 5 stars. ... show more
