Description

The Fluval E Heaters continuously monitor and display aquarium water temperature, ensuring the well-being of your aquarium inhabitants. The E Series features VueTech technology. With the easy to use adjustment lever, the temperature can be precisely set in 0.5° increments. Its LCD display delivers peace of mind by continuously showing real time water temperatures. During normal operation, the temperature readout will change color if the water varies +/-2 degrees F or more from the pre-set temperature. If any external heat sources or other equipment, such as chillers, cause the aquarium water temperature to rise or fall beyond 5.5 °F, the colored screen will flash, indicating a potential risk. The ability to measure temperature in Celsius is also an option. The integrated fish guard offers advanced protection. Fish and invertebrates cannot come into direct contact with the heater core. The glass sleeve is also protected against shocks from large fish species. Built with a secure slim profile mounting bracket, it can be adjusted or removed without removing the mounting bracket. For those with a marine aquarium and sump, you can also attach the Fluval E heater there.WARNING: The heater must never be operated outside of the aquarium. If the water level falls below the minimum water level MIN, the thermostat can no longer "read” the water temperature and therefore can no longer control the heating correctly. If it has to be taken out of the water or when transferring or changing the water, disconnect the heater from the power source and wait for at least 30 minutes to allow it to cool down. • Strong heater

Not to big, easy to hide. The cage keeps fish safe. Awesome digital display for temp control. Not cheap feeling.

  • Finicky but works
Style: E300 Pattern Name: Heater
I read many of the reviews here on this and decided it was the best one for my needs. It's been a ride, but it does work and well if you massage it. Here is my story: I bought the 300W one for my 55 gallon tropical tank. I have tetras and gourmis etc. I chose the slightly oversized one because in the winter the ambient temperature can fall to 59F so it needed to have some juice. The best rated review said to place it at a 45 deg. A A angle under the filter output so I did. I let it aclamate unplugged in the tank for 20 minutes and then turned it on. All summer and into the fall it worked fine. I only had one issue with it after a water change when it wouldn't stop heating. I unplugged it again, waited 30 min, plugged it back in, and it behaved fine after that. I had every confidence in this heater by the time fall rolled around so when I did a partial water change in November I replaced the heater in a vertical position. It was still under the filter output but suddenly it didn't work well. Every night it would lose a degree or two and just couldn't seem to gain it back fast enough. I went from a happy 77F to a consistant 72G. I was not happy. My fish were not happy, and by now its the end of November in Maine. It made no sense! As a last ditch effort before turning this thing into a $50 projectile, I decided to try the 45 degree angle again. Dear reader, it worked. I did a partial water change and filled it with ~77F water, let the heater aclamate, and it has kept the temperature significantly better. It's still not 77 (usually 75), but for a 55 gal tank I'm trying to keep almost 20F above ambient night time room temperature, it's doing a great job. The digital display is easier to read than a normal tank thermometer. The display is recessed into the housing too so it's not a glowing blob of light polution. The suction cups are still pliable after 6 months and have not disintegrated. If placement was not such an issue, I would have given this 5 stars. The plastic housing I guess is a bonus too. I think its a little unsightly, but my algae eater will sit on top of it occasionally (even if the water is 77F), so I guess it doesn't burn him and he appreciates it. ... show more

  • Questionable
Style: E300 Pattern Name: Heater
So I bought a e300 for my 55 knowing I was setting up a 125 in its place. I set up my 125 and purchased another e300 thinking it would be overkill and they wouldn’t have to work as hard in conjunction. Just befor I made my switch the first one was questionable if it was working or not, it was blue on the screen a lot on a 55. So I set up my 125 and bought another e300 so I will have 2 that are capable of 200 gallons. I put them both in and the first one is always one or two degrees behind the new one. I think the new one is doing all the work and the “old one .. that’s only 3months old” is not working. Never has the old been out of water and plugged in btw. Never worked right . ... show more

  • They are ok
Style: E300 Pattern Name: Heater
I got these for my 180 gallon fowlr tank. I’ve been out of the hobby for 10+ years and thought these would be great heaters for getting back in. I keep my house cold (66-68) so I got 3 of these 300w heaters just to be sure I’d be able to keep 78 in the tank. I had some trouble setting them and trying to tell if they were actually heating. I felt like I was going to break the lever off when adjusting the temp. Once set they were great for a while. I love the different color displays for quick reference if I’m in the right temp range. I do have an algae problem and they popped up LF on the display. I found that meant low flow around the heaters. The vents were covered quite a bit. I scrubbed them and reinstalled them. The housing around the heater is a little bit if a pain to get off. I’ve had this several times where I’ve had to clean them due to algae. After the 2nd or 3rd time, one of the tabs that hold the housing together broke off of 1. It barely stays together now. I’ve had the heaters for 8 months and I’m looking to replace them with something that’s more maintenance free/easy to clean. Trying to use a tooth brush on the vents to get algae out ends up making quite a mess. I know the ultimate solution is getting rid of the algae but that’s been something I’m working on for months. I’m looking to swap to titanium heaters and hope that I don’t have to clean as often. I will say the suction cups on these are very strong if the tank is clean. And I’ve had them pop off of the housing a few time when removing it to clean. They pop back in somewhat easily so it wasn’t an issue. I’d probably like these more if I didn’t have the algae issue and they came apart easier. ... show more
