No failures yet after using a full box. Using them to clean out a hoarded house, so they are getting lots of heavy mixed junk. The tie flaps have carry holes like the old plastic grocery bags. We have used these for both personal and business use for the past 5+ years, and these bags have not let us down. Whatever the trash is, they handle it. I won't even look at another brand in this size. We typically do not load them over 40 lbs for the garbage men, but they rarely rip even when very heavy. They even handle thorned bushes such as Bougainvillea well if you cut the branches into small pieces. If you shove large sharp objects into these, they will rip, but trash bags aren't designed for sharp objects, but they are fine for smaller sharp objects. The handles are pretty easy for me to tie and seal from the weather if left outside, and there's still enough room to grab the knot to carry. The 42 gallon size also fits well in the 32 gallon trash cans as they will stretch over the top and the bag will fold over a few inches over the side and stay in place while you fill the cans. Then you can easily pull the bags out without overloading them and tie them up. 3 bags that are 3/4 full will also fit fine in most City 96 gallon trash containers. If you have a lot of heavy trash, these are the bags you need. These bags can hold so much and made so strong. I've not had one to rip yet, and we stuff them full of heavy items. They are easy to open and really thick. At less than a dollar per bag, you can't get any better than these bags.

These are absolutely the best heavy-duty bags I've found for lawn and general-use shop bags. With a thickness of 3 mils, they're noticeably thicker, sturdier, and much more puncture resistant than the thinner bags you see for sale at Walmart, Costco, Home Depot, etc. I used to buy bags that have a drawstring closure. But the problem is that the drawstring often breaks when you're trying to close a bag that's really full. Not so with the tie flaps on these bags. And I also like the fact that the flaps are long enough to tie a knot, even when the bag is really full. And unlike some other bags I've purchased that are scented with a sickeningly sweet perfume. These bags have a mild chemical/plastic-type smell that I don't find objectionable. Complaints: These bags come rolled up in the box, and it's easy to separate single bags from the roll. However, I sometimes come across bags that are very difficult to open. In some instances, I've literally spent over a full minute trying to get the bag open (no, I'm not trying to open the wrong end of the bag). On some bags it's as if they've been sealed at both ends. The only way I can get them open is to make two tabs out of strong packing tape. After sticking a tab on each side of the bag, I then pull on the tabs to get the bag open. It's only for this reason that I'm giving these bags a four-star rating instead of five. ... show more

These work for me, but they can be punctured by extremely sharp pointy items. So if you throw in a bunch of 1 meter plate glass shards, probably will poke through. Otherwise, you are good to go. The handle flaps are handy and make it easy to do a two-way double-tie for secure closure.
