I liked the versality of the item that would play DVD's from multiple regions. I bought one three years ago for myself and since that time, purchased three others to give as gifts. The picture quality is great and I agree that the remote buttons are rather small. Unfortunately, the one I purchased for myself 3 years ago stopped working, and I ordered another replacement. The problem with the one that failed was the loss of VIDEO while maintaining the uninterrupted AUDIO. Happened on two occasions with no help from cable replacement. If this new one fails after 3 years, I will consider switching to a different brand of player. ... show more

This was a great bargain for a region-free DVD player. The remote works well, and it sets up quickly. But, the picture seems to be stuck in small mode. My Spidey movie was stuck only in the middle of my screen, with huge margins. And since this didn't some with instructions, I can't figure out how to fix it even after combing the entire settings menus. But hey, it's a great little player for the money! ... show more

These days most people have a DVD/CD player or two or three, but when I saw the versatility of the connection options with this player, I decided to go for it. The Good: HDMI allows direct connection to a computer monitor or smart TV. The USB connection also allows this. As an amature musician I am always looking for alternative ways to playback my music lessons. This unit precisely plays both the DVD lessons I have as well as the essential CD practice soundtracks. It comes with a very nice easy to use remote that has spot on slow motion and repeat features that are valuable for learning tunes. Play features are HD, HDCD, DVD, Compact Disk/Digital Audio, MP3, and CD Video. Extremely light weight and small in size. It fits well with my other devices during practice sessions and it is easy to pack when I need to travel. The open/close drawer operates very smoothly and all the controls on the unit are touch friendly. However, I find that the remote control is far superior in ease and accessability and I use that regularly. Being able to play CD tracks through my desktop using the HDMI connection is very helpful when I want to play a sound track along with a DVD lesson. I have played many DVDs from Scotland, Ireland and the UK including the Transatlantic Sessions and this unit plays those flawlessly without any need to choose a region. It is truly region free. The unit I received is very quiet and as I indicated, the open/close tray is flawless in operation. I know, I have several other DVD players, but this very compact and versatile unit will get some real play time. I also need to mention that it apparently comes with a three year warranty. Included are all the cables, HDMI, USB and RCA. I do have an older television that I sometimes use so the RCA plugs will be helpful if I decide to use that for playback. I also have lessons that were recorded on CD Video so this unit provides me with another alternative for playback. The not so good features are minimal: Does not come with batteries for the remote and you need to get 2 AAA batteries (I like to use the rechargeables and they last a long time). Just be ready to add batteries as you will want to use this unit right away. Control buttons on the unit are limited to open/close, play/pause, stop. (But, as I mentioned the remote is superior and quite convenient to use for my music lessons. The slow motion and repeat functions are very precise and easy to use). No other negatives from my usage experience. If you are looking for a DVD/CD player that has convenient versatile connectivity, great picture quality, light weight for packing and travel and exceptional convenience for playback of music lessons, this is a very nice value. Welcomed addition to my music learning journey. Although I have tried to attach some pictures, you really need to see the unit in action to appreciate the true quality. I do own other devices from this company that is, I believe, located in the United Kingdom and I have been very satisfied with the quality of those players as well. Cheers. ... show more

This DVD player works and is awesome. Easy setup. Just connected to the TV using the RV/RCA cable it came with. Also came with a HDMI cable. Have to press Setup on remote and change the resolution to the 1080 to get crystal clear picture. Also have to press Zoom on the remote and make sure that is off so picture isn't too big or small on TV. Remote didn't come with batteries, but easy to pop in 2 AAA batteries. The open/close button on the machine doesn't work, have to use the remote for that, but that is no biggie. Everything else works great with it. Only using it as a DVD player, can't comment on anything else with it. So far very happy with it. ... show more

For my needs, it’s sufficient and the price is right. However, last night I spent 20 minutes trying to get it to play. The HDMI cable needed some jiggling, it turned out. I also had a problem getting it to work when I first got it, you saw the initial splash screen and then nothing. The issue with the remote is that I can’t tell if the buttons are not responding or if the unit is not “seeing” the commands. It has a pretty good picture quality and once you start the disc, it plays, rewinds and pauses well. So, if you have 3 DVD’s, like I do, it’s a perfectly fine machine. If you want to use it frequently, I’d suggest something a bit better performing. ... show more

This DVD player seems like a great option for the budget conscious consumer. It has all the mass market relevancy and features that one would want given the price. I was very confused when I first received it because it is not enabled at 1080P by default it is only 480p out the box or even 480i I don't remember. Make sure that you actually switch it to full HD or you will never see the picture quality that you want. It will look like ham potato quality. Otherwise it seems great. I would have preferred a slot loading drive just because I would have preferred less externally moving parts, but I understand that a slotted drive is cheaper ... show more
