Basically bought this so my 5 year old granddaughter could watch her movies when she slept over. Some of the reviews said it broke after a couple times of usage. I haven't had that issue. The only thing I don't care for is the pause button on the remote. It doesn't stay paused for real long. When we come back after a break, you have to start over and fast forward to the 'paused' spot. Very small and easy to connect is a plus. Unfortunately, it will not hold your place if you have to pause the video in mid movie, which is very frustrating, and is awkward to navigate. This is a gift for my sister. I tried it before sending it to her. This player is small and so lightweight that even a small apartment will have no problem to find a better place for it. Works as advertised except freezing and skipping between chapters. Tested on a brand-new DVD and 3 times during the movie it froze for 2-3 seconds between chapters and then skipped ahead a few seconds. Everything else worked fine, some noise from the player during the movie (not just loading) but not consistent enough to be obtrusive. Good for background noise movies and/or immersion is not high on your list. Value for money? This tech is ancient and they probably produce the thing for less than 5$ in a Chinese sweatshop so that's for you to decide. ... show more

My only complaint (and it's not really a deal breaker) is the remote. It's not a well designed/laid out device. But otherwise I'm very happy with this little thing. I have it above my Series 8 55" Samsung LCD TV. And it produces an excellent picture. And it was a snap to hook up. I'm using an HDMI cable, so it was a simple connection. And as I said picture quality is great and sound fidelity is exactly what I expected, no complaints. If you going to put this device some place out in the open. You'll notice the status light is a fairly bright red. But I took care of that issue with a small piece of electrical tape. This probably won't be an issue for everyone. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this device to anyone though! ... show more

    • Works great EXCEPT that remote button labels are too faded & FAR TOO TINY TO READ!!

- Works great, great price. - Did NOT come with HDMI cable, I paid a few dollars extra for this model for the HDMI Yet still a great deal for 4 months of zero internet service over the CA winter in 2023. - CAN'T READ REMOTE BUTTON LABELS!! - Amazing extra functions, BUT CAN'T READ THE BUTTONS, SO CAN'T USE THEM! BAD: Text labels on the remote ARE FAR TOO TINY & FAR TOO LIGHT TO READ!!! Never had a remote this bad. It works, but it's labeling is USELESS, so the remote is virtually useless! Which means that all the AWESOME extra functions this device offers, they effectively cannot be used! You can try to memorize a few buttons you use most, BUT, you'd forget unless used daily. The tiny very light labels will certainly fade to nothing or rub off quickly. THEN you're out of luck. Player won't work ONLY because the buttons are unlabeled! You'll need a bright light & magnifying glass to operate the remote. You'll have to use it like an old fashioned TV before remotes existed. And won't be able to use advanced features. But, if you never rewind, pause, restart playback or use any of the amazing extra features is has, this works GREAT! ... show more
