  • Beast of an anvil that anyone can afford.
Size: 110LBS
This anvil is absolutely what the blacksmithing community needs. Affordable, cast 1045 steel. Has great rebound, rings like a church bell, and so far has held up well. Big magnets are a must so break apart an old speaker or subwoofer to dull the ring and securely mount it to a nice base. Its loud. Strip the horn and round it out when ya get it for sure. Break the edges with a flap disk and plan to clean up the hardy hole. The pritchel hole is basically useless unless you have a 1" round bar to turn into a hold down tool. An option for the hold down would be to make a hardy tool for the hold down to sit in. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with the anvil. No clue what the hell I'm supposed to do with the 1 lb tack hammer they sent with it lol. UPDATE -2 years of daily use in my profession as a blacksmith. The anvil has held up wonderfully. Worth noting for the rebound tests... I use the anvil directly above the base/foot by the round horn both near side and far for anything I can. That is the area with the best rebound. There have been a few dinks here and there in the face but that's any anvil. In the two years of daily use I've also developed a few surface cracks at the far side in the area I use most. Have been there for probably a year but haven't gotten worse. ... show more

  • Great for the price.
Size: 132LBS
For the price, I do not think I can beat it. For the cons: To point out the obvious, the pritchel hole is oddly placed, it seems they did that for their convenience. But this is obvious in the picture so I can't hold it against them too much. The hole placement also made it easier to bolt down to my anvil stand. The hardy hole on mine was not exact in its size, but close enough. The pros: After grinding down the edges on this things, I have been using it basically every day, and it has held up well. No obvious chipping or marring. I have not owned an anvil previously, but I would buy this again. ... show more

  • Great Rebound
Size: 132LBS
The anvil seems like it's of good quality. Seems like it is made of cast steel and weighs what the description says it's supposed to weigh. My husband seemed to really love it as a christmas gift.

  • Incredible value
Size: 132LBS
If you want to buy an anvil, even a decent used one they start at $4/pound and often require some work. This one was under $3/pound delivered. Quality was better than I expected. There was no rust. The face was flat and even and hardened to about Rockwell 56 according to file tests. Tapping it revealed no voids or dead spots. the only changes I made were radiusing part of the far edge and the edges of the hardie hole, standard with any new anvil. My only complaint is the pritchel hole which would be more useful flush with the face. But that is a mInor for the value. ... show more

  • Exactly as expected
Size: 132LBS
The reviews on this were very hit or miss, with more hits than misses. I must have gotten a better one than some of the poor reviews. The anvil is as advertised. It has a perfect surface to work on, but the rest is clearly cast and has the imperfections to show for it. Inside the Hardy hole you can see it is kind of an afterthought when this was made. It looks like it was originally a circle, and then turned into a square. Dimensions are as described however, and it is almost a square. But again, after reading the reviews, you know what to expect. I will need to file down a blob of steel in the Hardy hole, but other than that, everything is ready to use. I don't mind the blue paint, and will decide whether or not I need to perfect the surface of the horn. It has very small raised bumps on it from the mold that look and feel like letters written in braille. They are spaced out around the entire horn, but I can't imagine at the stage I am in, having to worry about them being any more than a minute amount of sanding on the belt. For the money, and that is the trick, for the money, I couldn't be happier. I was able to buy everything else I needed to start making knives, for the difference of what a finer anvil would have cost. And at this point in my journey, I don't need a finer anvil. This one is probably more than I need as it is. And there is the value. Very happy with it. ... show more

  • Worth the money
Size: 110LBS
First of all, I purchased a 66 pound anvil just like this one 2 years ago it has been a joy to work with but not heavy enough, I Also have a 228 pound English Anvil, so this one came on time and so far does Not disappoint it came Blue ,I will be removing the paint. 1 inch ball bearing test dropped from 12 inches rebound all over the face average 11 inches some 12.5 to 13.All and all these anvil's in my opinion are Well worth the money.if any dissatisfaction comes I Will Update. I finally got a chance to weigh this thing, not exactly Happy it only weighs 101.4 NOT 110 pounds like it is advertised as. ... show more

  • Great Anvil
Size: 110LBS
I have had the Anvil for a few years now. It is hardy and well shaped making it easy work steel in several different angles. The round hon makes it easy to open drifts. The flat horn make it easy to make more complex shapes. The anvil base makes it stable to work at. The hardy hole was a bit rough and needed to be cleaned up with a file. I also used a grinder to knock the powder coat from the round horn. I am very happy with how muck metal I can move quickly on the anvil. I can move more steel with less effort than on my old 25 lbs anvil. ... show more

  • Feels sturdy and much more solid than cheap cast iron anvils
Size: 110LBS
For the price this has a pretty decent bounce, better than my heavily used 1800s mousehole, and with some edge dressing it's great for forging so far! It's nice to have a good flat surface and a fairly heavy anvil to hammer on. It makes forging easier on my arms.
