I was looking for a camera with better resolution and responsiveness than my Blink Doorbell Camera. I found good reviews on the Google Doorbell Camera and have been happy with it since installing. The camera quality isn't the BEST, but it's better than my old Blink and does the job for me. I'm especially happy with the night time quality. I usually have my driveway lights on 1% (philips hue bulbs), but also turn them off often and like that I can still see what's going on. The app (Google Home) is quick and responsive. There is rarely any delay from when I open the app til I see real-time feed. A selling point for me was the 10 day 24/7 video recording. I found the Blink to have poor detection or wouldn't detect events I was interested in such as out on the road. The Google also has a nice feature of detecting and categorizing movement, whether that's a person, animal, package. A feature I use less often but still appreciate is the web interface. It's pretty barebones and hopefully gets more features in the future. It's nice to have the option of using my computer to see the camera when I'm at work though. Replaced the gen 1 Hello doorbell with this one as Google modernizes the line. Super-easy install since I already had the wires ready. Maybe 12 years ago, the Gen 1 Hello doorbell installed fine but never go the mechnical "chime" in the house to work. There is a lot of posts on Reddit about seeing the solenoid moving but just barely so there was no audible chime. I decided this time I really wanted to make the chime work because its a big house and otherwise no one would answer the door unless they received a notification on their phone. Turns out the solution was replacing the doorbell transformer from a 16V 10VA to a 16V 30VA (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GND8RMQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1) That solved everything so be aware if you want a mechnical chime to ring you might need to upgrade the power on your doorbell transformer. ... show more

I've had my Nest Hello doorbell for many years and didn't want to upgrade because the newer generation has fewer features. I was pleasantly surprised and glad I upgraded. The slightly lower camera resolution is not noticeable. I like having all my Nest camera's in the Google Home app now. With my old Nest Hello doorbell, I had to also use the original Nest app. Google still has a ways to go with all the features and functionality the doorbell and their other cameras could have, but I'm confident they'll get there.....1 of these days. ... show more

This doorbell is a much better design than the ring doorbell. It is easier to remove for charging. It does not need a chime. Alerts are spoken by every google device. This is much less jarring than a chime.
