  • Worked well
This fixed the issue I was having with the Thermostat loosing power and connection. Worked very well

  • Purchased for my Nest thermostat.
So, my nest thermostat did well for about a year and ended up not holding a charge, in the winter time of all months. Also, wasn’t letting me adjust the temperature whenever I was away because the battery was too low. I did some research online and found out that this is something that happens to a lot of users if they don’t have a common wire. Since the common wire is what charges the Nest. (I literally have no idea about HVAC systems) I purchased this, and took some trial and error in getting it to work. But I have to say, since I got it finally wired up properly I’ve had no issues with my thermostat. ... show more

  • Here's what you need to know about using this with Google Nest
This product is great, super helpful and easy to install. So why do half the reviews say it works with Nest, and half say it DOESN'T work with Nest? After many days of trial and error and enough research to make me a subject matter expert on 2 wire systems, I've found that it all boils down to this: Nest has a finnicky base. I installed this 6 or 7 different times before my Nest was happy. I checked polarity, I checked voltage, I tried wrapping the smaller wire around the larger wire where they both connect to the same port.... ultimately it just took a lot of careful placement and then it worked. My Nest has been happily powered and error free since then. Of course now I'm afraid to remove it to touch up the paint where my former larger thermostat sat but that's a different matter altogether....Still worth it to go to a programmable thermostat. ... show more

  • Easy to install, but cord length is a bit ridiculous
I have a Nest in a system with a common wire. It works 90% of the time, but when it gets too cold I need to pull the Y (cooling wire) because without the power from that line, the furnace will short cycle. I didn't want to run a new thermostat wire and the add-a-wire kits haven't worked in my setup. This kit does work. It installs easy- for me, all I really needed was to run the wire and plug in it to the C terminal. Fishing it through the wall wasn't an option, so I just ran it behind the base plate. If you try to do it right under the Nest itself, the Nest won't seat properly. I hooked up one wire to the C terminal and the other to Rc and that was that. I'm not sure hooking up Rc is strictly necessary in my setup, but it saves having to trim and cap the wire (which you would have to do since it is hot). One other huge plus is the UL certification. Looking for this kind of thing, you'll find a bunch of other products that are available that are not UL or ETL certified. These certifications are a hugely important thing to look for. These certifications ensure that the product was safety tested and for anything drawing power, you really want to have those certifications. You can also look for CSA (Canada) and CE (EU) certifications, but those are obviously tested to Canadian and EU standards. Still, any kind of certification is better than nothing. Only real negative for me are the cord length. 23' long cord is overkill, but since you can trim it, it's largely just a nuisance. I guess it could be good if you wanted to fish it through the wall, but if you're doing that, you might as well just run a new thermostat wire. ... show more

  • Works with Amazon smart thermostat!
I used this power adapter to power a simple propane “hot dawg” garage heater. Red and white heater wire were connected to the W and Rh of the thermostat. And the power adapter was connected to 120 power and the 24 AC wire non polar were attached to the Rc and cC of the thermostat. Power up “Set” is displayed and follow the Alexa app to finish setup of the thermostat. So far so good. ... show more

  • Dead transformer probably returned before by another purchaser
I bought this along with a Sensi smart thermostat. I knew the existing thermostat had no "C wire", and that my simple heat-only system would require such a supplemental transformer. The thermostat worked on the wall but the remote function kept failing within minutes of set-up, with a message indicating it was not connected to power. I spent hours trying to figure out what I did wrong in connecting the wires but kept getting the same result. it finally occurred to me to check the transformer. I had an old multi-meter, and the voltage meter never moved when I checked the transformer. This seemed so unlikely I even bought a new meter thinking my old one must be no good. But--same result. So I ordered a second transformer, a different brand at about the same price. (who knows really what the brand is; there are all pretty generic and probably come from the same Chinese factory). Voila! it did register on my meter and the thermostat also worked fine when I connected the second transformer. Obviously poor quality control, but what irked me most was that I was suspicious anyway when I got this that the termostat had previously been returned: the plain white box it came in, no markings of any kind, was coming apart. I imagine the earlier customer also said it did not work. I am returning this one and hope it's not palmed off on another unsuspecting customer. ... show more

Our Google Nest thermostat kept losing power and after purchasing this power adapter I successfully installed it and now my thermostat has consistent power at a great value. Thank you

  • Works great for a Honeywell thermostat
Only had a 2 wire for my thermostat. Added the Hottop 24v for my new Honeywell, It's been over a month with no problems. Eazy connection. Wire Attachment line nails should be a little longer.
