  • Love the Licorice to Cool Down Dark Brown Hair or Brighten Black. I Leave on an Hour
Color: Luminous Liquorice
I have very dark brown hair with 5% grays now which aren't very noticeable. I have always used a semi permanent blue black color to cool down my color which looks better against my olive skin. Now I use a bit of permanent color on my roots and temporary color all over as the permanent color fades and looks blah over time. So the Luminous Licorice was being used over some virgin hair and some previously colored hair. I used it like it was hair color, not conditioner, putting it on dry hair, (I also put a cap on it) shampooing it out, and conditioning after. as there were NO visible instructions. I always leave temporary color on for a long time to penetrate since it's more of a conditioner. This time I left it on probably 90 minutes. After all that my hair looked amazing. the color was lush and vivid. Since there is no peroxide or ammonia, you really can leave it on. And of course if you don't like it, you can always use a shampoo like un-do-goo by Malibu C. Since I use blue black, I always I'm pretty sure I'm going to like the color. If I was using a different color I would do a strand test. And I would try leaving it on a long time. I went to the website and looked for instructions on how to use the product. And I found two different directions. The first set of directions said to use it the way that I did. To put it on dry hair. And maybe and a tiny bit of water. Very tiny. To help it process. They are still saying 10 to 20 minutes. And that may work for some people. For me I know I need an hour. And then shampoo. They don't think you need a condition after. But I do. Then I saw another set of instructions on there a different day saying to use it after you shampooed. Towel dry. And use it as a conditioner after. I tried it that way. And it was completely useless on MY hair. Shampooed my hair. Dried it but it was still wet. Put on the color and left it on for quite a while. And it really didn't do much. I heard it to be dry might work for you though. My hair is difficult. It's already colored. It's a bit wavy but also frizzy. It's very dry. It's past my shoulders. And I have to use hot tools on it. So it needs a ton of TLC. not in the best condition ... show more

  • The product worths 4-5 stars, but I will rate 3 star to urge Glaze to change the packaging.
Color: Sleek Espresso
I have naturally black hair and have dyed my hair to a lighter, slightly copper, brown (no bleach) shade. I'm in the process of growing out my natural black hair but don't want to dye my ends black - I just find the black dye to not look very natural. So, I was on the market for something that balances out the my natural black root and copper-ish brown ends, even just for a little bit, which led me to trying out Glaze in Expresso. Color: it does seem to work on my end as it ends up with a beautiful deep brown shade. However, the color does not seem to work, or works very little, with the part that is closer to my root. It could not cover the copper shade and blends out the dyed and natural part very nicely. If you have the same needs, try the two black shades and skip Espresso. Conditioning: my hair feels extremely soft and healthy afterwards. Application: The worst, and not because of the staining. There will be stain, so glove is recommended. However, it does not stain my bathroom tiles and sink as badly as others have reviewed. They run right off with water. If you have Dawn dish soap or a mixture of diluted vinegar and Dawn, that will help remove them quickly. My issue is with the packaging. You have to squeeze the hard plastic bottle VERY HARD to get any product out. Don't even try to use the small opening that comes with the cap, just twist the cap out to make the product get out easier. Regardless, you still have to squeeze the bottle hard. Try juggling that with a messy hand just further makes the process more messy. Safe to say that I will not repurchase until Glaze changes the packaging for this product to something easier, like a pump. ... show more

  • Saved my sad hair that hadn't been highlighted in three months
Color: Vanilla Lights
I've had a lot of breakage and as a result am trying to limit damage. However, after the months of no new highlights my hair was looking dull and dark. I used the vanilla and kept it on my hair for 10 minutes and filled with my weekly Olaplex routine. I feel like I got a pricey salon treatment for a steal. I just bought another bottle to try on my teen who hasn't had her highlights done in just as long. ... show more
