    • Sturdy feeders but carabiners not good for goats

I tried these out for a couple weeks before sharing my review. I got these for my goats and the troughs were very easy to attach to my wire fencing with the included carabiner-style clips. The feeders come with screws too but I didn’t try those out. After about 5 days my goats had worked off the little metal tube that keeps the clips from opening. Thankfully I found the metal tubes so my goats hadn’t eaten them, but the goats can now take the clips off. They lost one clip completely so I have to get different clips to hang the feeders. I’ve used several different feeders throughout my 12 years of owning goats and these were the first clips they’ve ever been able to get off. Thus, I recommend getting different clips for the feeders if you’re going to attach the feeders to a fence. The feeders themselves are thick, sturdy plastic but the feeders are smaller than other feeders I have. The feeders work fine for minerals though. I personally think the feeders are more suited for chickens and poultry. If you’re getting them for goats then I would screw them into a wall directly. ... show more

I was super impressed with these troughs when they arrived. They are very thick and therefore very sturdy. This is really important when dealing with chickens because they will jump up on everything and peck everything, so it must be able to handle the pecking and the weight of a full grown hen when she is feeling like standing in the trough to eat food held in it. These are a little smaller than my other troughs, but still hold plenty of food, grit or oyster shells for my needs. The shape of the troughs has a nice lower front section with a tall back section, this helps the trough to stay flat against the wall surface where it is mounted and also be low enough in front for the chickens, ducks, and geese in my flock to easily access the food contained in it. The troughs come with the perfect size caribiner clips to fit in the two holes on the back section. You just install the clips in the holes then clip them onto a fence or in my case to the welded wire walls of the hoop coop I built for them. You could also use the screws to mount them to a wooden wall if that is what your coop or animal pen is made of. I love that the set included 4 of these troughs as I have them mounted everywhere inside the chicken coop, duck shed, and the shaded run so that they can access food no matter where they are. I mounted the goose food up higher than the chicken troughs because she is much taller and now she doesn't have to lean all the way down to the chicken level to eat from the trough. This also reduces the likely hood of the chickens eating her food which is specifically for geese and ducks. I also use them to hold oyster shells for my laying hens and grit for all of my birds. The shape allows you to use them for holding water as well but I only use them with dry foods. I would order more of these if I added more animals to my little farm because they are so handy to hang anywhere they are needed and move them anytime you need a food trough in a new location, and strong enough to handle use by all of my critters and even some that I don't have yet. ... show more

The edges are kinda rough/sharp so I knocked a star off for that. Otherwise these are completely above my expectations. They’re thick and durable farm use plastic. I used rope and tied little circles onto them and then use the black clasp that included to hang them on my fence. This wasnt a must. They will hang directly from the clasp onto the fence. But for me it was easier to take off and put on with small rope “handles” for them to hang from. My chickens didn’t care how they got hung as long as I put some food in there they love them. These chicken feeders are a great add on for our chicken run. They seem to be made of good quality material. They come in a four pack. We are using them for putting grit in one, leftovers in another, leafy greens in the third and water in the fourth. They are attached around our run fencing. The only thing we didn't like is that there are no drain holes. This was a plus for the one we wanted to keep water in but we decided to drill some in the other three. ... show more
