  • Great value for video doorbell
This is the second Geenie I've installed, but the first at my home. Installation was easy, as was seeing up the App. Video is clear day or night. I wouldn't mind a few more degrees of peripheral vision. I really like the uSD card option (get the max 128GB for roughly a months worth of storage). In my wood framed house the signal is strong to the router, however when installed on concrete block buildings I found I needed a Wi-Fi repeater to get the signal across the same distance. ... show more

  • Great Video Doorbell!!!
(UPDATE 4.2021) I’ve had this doorbell for 8 months now and I’ve decided to give my long-term thoughts on the product. I was going to do this at a year but what the heck, let’s get a little crazy. Overall this video doorbell has great value for the money. There are no subscriptions for general service...yet...I hope it stays that way. There is a sub for cloud storage but that’s optional. Just pop in a 32GB microSD card and it’ll save a week’s worth of video at a time. If you need more back up, then the cloud storage might be for you. This doorbell features motion detection and night vision. Both a little lacking but a nice touch. The motion detection is around 90% accurate once you set the sensitivity and the surveillance area window. This could simply be our placement or whatever but again, overall, it does what it needs to. Night vision isn’t that great. At all. With NV on, field of view shallows out quite a bit, barely being able to see around 8-10 feet away and tends to blow out anything else. So if someone is standing there, they tend to look like a white blob. With night vision off, the cameras auto exposure kicks in and you can see across the street with decent detail for night time video. So I don’t have it turned on. And the last issue I have is that it’s not HD. When I hear “HD” in 2020, I’m thinking 1080p at least. I would be surprised that if you could call it 720p. In the video feed you can choose between SD (standard def) and HD (high def). HD mode is basically an over-sharpened SD video feed however. HD gives you no more pertinent detail in your video. Now, none of this is what I’d call a deal breaker because you can see enough in any instance, especially if someone is at your door or on your porch. But don’t expect to be able to make out facial features of the driver of a car as they drive past. Overall I am happy with the doorbell and don’t regret saving money and skipping the more expensive competitors. Yes, it has its shortcomings but it’s honestly easy to overlook them once you’re using the Geeni, laughing at all those who have to pay every month just to use their doorbell! *(UPDATE 11.2020) Replaced my doorbell transformer and that fixed my issue! *Initial review...if you could call it that! LoL* This is a GREAT alternative to some of the bigger brands. To help me collect my thoughts on this and give a proper review, I need to say that most of the issues I had were a result of putting this on an older house whose previous and only other owner did questionable things with the electrical. That said, if the electrical of my house were better installed, yes including the doorbell wiring, this would’ve been an easy and flawless install, probably 15 minutes give or take a few...not several hours. Once installed, it functioned perfectly. It did so for a couple hours and something changed. We noticed a buzzing/humming from our chime and the doorbell, video and all stopped functioning. I messed with it for a couple days and found a fix using a particular resistor put in place in the circuit. This fixed it! Almost. The video works, it alerts my family to activity, but the chime doesn’t work. CS says it’s the transformer...possibly. *see UPDATE 11.2020* So the only problem I’ve had was trying to troubleshoot the chime, which might be the transformer. This doorbell is easy to install, use and has perks like a fraction of the cost of competitor products and no subscription needed! This makes it so worth it! ... show more

  • Love this
Easy to install. Still can't get the chin to work inside my house waven after making sure I have the right output. But it does ring my phone when someone is there. Great night vision also.

  • Waste of my money!
This is one of the cheaper video door bells on the market, and it will record video on a memory card so you don't have to pay for a monthly subscription. However, the video is of very poor quality. If the other side of the street is in sunlight, anybody walking up to my door basically looks like a black silhouette. Under the best of conditions, the picture is just barely OK. I bought this door bell to alert me when a package is delivered. It should notify me on my phone if someone is on my porch. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. The app is very sketchy. I get a lot of "Retrieving stream failed", "video failed", and just plain "failed" messages. It is not user friendly and does not work well. It is also very slow. If someone rings my door bell, they are out to the street by the time I can get to the point where I can use the talk feature. After using this product for a month, I had to change my rating to one star only because you can't give it zero stars. It does ring if someone pushes the button, but so did my old doorbell. The app is totally useless and unreliable. ... show more

  • Does not work with Alexa.
I like that this camera works with an SD card and does not require a subscription like everything else now days. However, it does not work with Alexa as advertised. Alexa don’t find it nor can their support work out how to get it to work. They walk through all the same steps in the sit up, ask for your login credentials whose is unacceptable and then tell you that they have escalated it to their development team. They chat with you via email over the next few days to weeks with no solution. So if you want the camera to be viewable on an Alexa show, go with another option. ... show more

  • Finally reviews that were right, device is really easy!
Very easy to set up! Once it's installed and you open the app you click on add device and the app generates a QR code that you simply hold on front of the camera and boom, done! All you need to do is input your 2.4GHz network name and password prior, and it works even if the network is hidden because you're giving it the info to connect. The motion detection is very fast with almost no latency. Only issue I had was my mechanical chime was weak because the transformer that now is powering this doorbell is also doing the chime inside. Boosting the VA rating of the transformer solved this. It can also be set to record continuously or only when motion is detected. Micro SD card is needed, up to 32Gb max. Talk back feature works c to fine. You can program the doorbell for a mechanical or electronic sound at the doorbell when someone presses the button. ... show more
