  • 5MP Aosu Video Doorbell Works Flawlessly
This is my review of my front door Aosu 5MP video doorbell after nearly 1 year in operation now. It is still working flawlessly. Setup & installation were easy and straightforward. I also love the fact that all my videos are stored and controlled locally on the Wi-Fi base unit memory card and easily accessed for viewing or downloading if desired-- no connection or payment necessary to any cloud service, which I did not want to do. I've never missed a single event or had any dropout of WiFi signal the entire time. The camera images and videos are very crisp, clear and color-correct. I had a small issue in the first month where at certain times on some afternoons (not all), I would get false notifications of someone at my door. I had it set for Humans Only and Automatic Sensitivity. I discovered after a few times that the only common thing about each false-notice video recorded was that it was a breezy afternoon and large moving shadows of my nearby tree branches/leaves were being cast on my front approach walkway within my up-close detection zone. I sent an email to Aosu to ask if something was wrong with my doorbell sensors, or if I needed to change some settings. I received a response the very next day. They asked me to email them one of my false-notice videos where I had described what was happening. A few days later, the Aosu rep replied that after their techs reviewed my video and my stated doorbell settings, they were quite sure it was my "dancing tree branch shadows" on the walkway that were "tricking" the sensors into thinking a moving human figure was present. They recommended I switch to the Manual sensor detection on my app, and reduce the sensitivity by sliding the bar downward for less sensitivity. On my first test, I manually set the sensitivity bar down to the halfway mark. I left it there for a month and had no more false notifications. I then experimented with gradually increasing the sensitivity by sliding the bar upwards a little bit each time and trying for another few weeks. After a few more gradual upward sensitivity adjustments, I found that I could have my sensitivity set at just one notch below maximum and I still did not get any false notices, so that's where I have left it, and still no more false notices now for many months. After nearly a year in operation now, I am extremely pleased with this Aosu video doorbell; and I am very pleased with the quick and helpful responses from the Aosu Representative. I highly recommend this product and the very helpful and quick-responding Aosu support provided. Follow-up, 8-25-2024: After more than 16 months in operation, my Video Doorbell is still working well. I have mine connected to my old doorbell transformer power which provides about 15v AC directly to the doorbell terminals on the back of it. For over a year, it maintained at or near 100% all the time. In the past few months, however, the battery level for this camera shown on the app started indicating a steady 1%-2% drop in battery level about every 2 days or so. I emailed Ann, the customer service representative at Aosu to explain the strange issue. She recommended taking it down and fully recharging it and then put it back up, reconnect to the doorbell power, and then monitor for a few weeks to see if that would solve the problem. I did that, and the battery held at 100% for 3 days, but then suddenly started dropping power again-- 13% drop on the 4th day, and then back to 1%-2% every few days after that. Eventually, after about a month, the power level got down to about 73% and has stayed there for quite a while, but I was not sure if it would continue declining more again later or not. I reported all of this back to Ann at Aosu. She is sending me a new replacement as a backup in case my current one decides to eventually tank. So far, it is still continuing to hold its power level at 70%-73% at all times while being maintained by the low voltage doorbell power. Only time will tell if it will stay at that level, but the doorbell is working perfectly, so I'm happy. And Ann's commitment to providing me a new backup doorbell in case mine does eventually die is the best customer service anyone could ask for. These folks at Aosu really seem to care about their products and their customers. I highly recommend them. ... show more

  • Solid cameras and doorbell
These cameras were easy to set up and the app is user friendly. Battery life of these solar cameras are amazing, they never need wired charging, just make sure they are mounted in a location in direct sunlight. Doorbell is great, offers amazing night vision as well as clarity. I’m giving this a 5 star review because the ease of setup and use. My doorbell had an issue 3 months in with no sound. I contacted the support team and they were responsive and helpful. They replaced the doorbell free of charge! My package was overnighted and now everything works fine. Would definitely recommend! ... show more

  • Aosu Deluxe 2.4/5.0 GHz Doorbell with Hardwire Connection Capability
We wanted a video doorbell with high resolution and local storage without a subscription. We originally bought one Aosu Deluxe 2.4/5.0 GHz doorbell, and then eventually bought two more, so now we have high-quality video doorbells for our front door, back door, and back gate. The camera resolution on these doorbells is very good, and the "human only" detection algorithms work--they don't seem to miss anyone, and they completely eliminate false alarms. (Every video clip shows at least one person in our detection zone.) And the notifications are customizable in the app, so you can choose what types of notifications you want to get on your phone, and when. The app is also very easy to use with multiple doorbells, including the option to display a multi-camera feed. Aosu customer service is also great. I had a potential issue with the battery levels in one of the doorbells. It took a long time to charge, and it also wasn't charging back up to 100 percent at night. Aosu provided a lot of timely technical support to try to troubleshoot, and then eventually sent me a replacement doorbell. The replacement unit works perfectly, and it fully charges up at night when there are few or no detection events. So this is a quality product, and Aosu stands behind it as well. One possible negative of these Aosu doorbells is that they are apparently slightly larger (taller) than most other video doorbells, so most of the anti-theft/weatherproof cases don't fit around this guy. I tried two that should have fit but didn't, and ended up using aluminum angle iron and PVC corner trim to rig up custom covers to block the overhead sun and rain, and to deter tampering/theft. Based on the overall quality of these units, I'm guessing the waterproofing and operating temperature ranges are fine, but I still wanted to block as much sun and rain as possible (partly to get better video). But I wish Aosu made or recommended a quality weatherproof case that was tall enough for this doorbell. Honestly, there probably is one, but I tried twice and didn't find one, so that was my biggest issue with installing the Aosu Deluxe doorbell. We've had these video doorbells for a few months now, and we are very pleased we bought them. They're very capable, especially for the price, and they give really good awareness and understanding of who comes and goes around our house on a typical day. As long as the app stays supported, these are truly a 5-star item, and a deal at twice the price. In short, they're smart little security doorbells with great day/night video quality, at a great price. A few installation notes: Doorbell power is rather unique. If you are putting this somewhere where you don't have functional doorbell power, you need a 16-24V AC (not DC) 500mA minimum power source. Search for doorbell and/or thermostat power supplies, and you'll find something that works using a standard outlet. I also bought some two-conductor 18 gauge copper (not copper coated aluminum) wire, and the setup is working flawlessly. Depending on how you're running your wires, you may also want to get some conduit and/or waterproof/flashing tape and/or cable trays. The outside of the Aosu box has stickers that include the SNs for both the doorbell and the home station. Note that there is a separate SN for each, but that the SNs are paired (which matters if you buy more than one doorbell). The SNs are also included on the components themselves, but having the box sticker gives you info on which home station is paired to which doorbell, and this is useful if you have multiple doorbells. So if you buy more then one doorbell, you may want to take a picture of the stickers on the boxes before you throw the boxes out. Lastly, these doorbells have 5 GHz connectivity, which apparently requires a much more sophisticated and better equipped bad guy to potentially mess with your video door bell (vs 2.4 GHz). This is probably not an issue for most people, but it's a nice feature that you get free. So choose your 5 GHz (not 2.4 GHz) network to connect these to. . ... show more

  • AOSU Door Cam
Had it for a month now. Working well. Very stylish. keeps WiFi connection very well (at 5G). Customer Serv has been very responsive. Bought this as a pkg w/ 2-wireless solar charging outdoor Cams. Reason for rating -4, cuz I've learned tht the detection sensitivity setting is not optimal, and does not capture the people & pet events correctly & entirely, unless set at a level of max. I even had the trouble shooting tech tell me that I had to leave it on the "max" setting for best operation. (so, why have the different settings)? Problem is- when set at Max, then it captures way too many non-relevant events! Also, upon first installation, I found out the online google app was not working sufficiently, and Customer Serv agent required me to remove it and download it from their site. Why are they not providing continuation support to keep latest App download on Google's App site (Play Store). So, thus far, it is a good product but needs improved operation & performance improvements. Re: outdoor cams- love the solar charging panels. Keeping my cams charged at 100% daily! Thank You AOSU. ... show more
