Standard 9” firebrick 1 1/4” thick. Seems to be fine quality, just the clay is a little more pale looking than USA made fire bricks being a China import. They should easily replace older cracked or broken bricks and fit as they’re pretty standard in their size and not skimming on the size or thickness. The edges do chip, but I cranked a few pretty hard by accident and they didn’t crack or break on me. ... show more

Don't get me wrong, these are excellent fire bricks; good price and very sturdy. It is just that you are not going to cut these to fit your specific needs with a carbide hacksaw. Nope, you are going to need an electric tile cutting saw and, even then, some patience.

    • Super Hard Bricks - Solid Quality
They arrived perfectly packed and of the 3 boxes that I bought, not one had any cracks. These bricks are super hard and a previous reviewer stated they were as hard as pharaoh’s heart and have to chuckle as they have the hardness similar to brick pavers. I had a difficult time cutting them so I’m glad I only had to cut 4 bricks. I used a diamond masonry blade on my angle grinder and found a trick to cutting them. I started by cutting in about 1/4” and then took a spray bottle and squirted water in the trench I made and it was just enough water to create a wet saw technique and it cut at least 50% faster. I’d use this technique every 1/2 deep cut. I’d buy these again; in like greater than 10 years when they need replacement. ... show more

    • Hard to cut or shape them
I ordered 2 boxes. One box was perfect the other had 2 broken. Amazon replaced them within 2 days, that was not a problem, however it does show they can be brittle. I had to trim 1/4 inch of the end of each one, that was difficult. They are very hard to cut. I used a diamond edged masonry blade, I got the cuts made but it destroyed my blade. I haven’t fired them yet but I’m excited to have something that hopefully will stand up to the heat in my forge ... show more
