Got this to help spread the fireplace warmth around my main floor, approximately 1000 square feet. The unit starts spinning and gets to full speed in good time, however the airflow movement is relatively minimal. In about 4 hours of full running it made about a 3-5 degree difference on in the overall temp of the house vs not having it. So it works, just don't expect a miracle quick cure, it needs lots of time to move the air. For the price I figured that it's worth the 4 stars, better than nothing and doesn't set you back in cost. The only other downside was that it does make a higher pitched humming noise, not noticeable over the tv or if you are in a conversation, but if you are relaxing in silence it's about enough to drive you mad. ... show more

We have a small open-plan 1 1/2 story cottage. In part due to occasional power outages, we depend on a wood stove and a heat pump for space hearing. This is the third stove fan we have used over the last 30 years and it is by far the best. It is sturdy aluminum with six blades for efficiency and no need for a battery. it is ready to work straight from the box, and quiet enough that you may not even notice it. I had two of these in a previous house. They were both bumped and dropped several times. Just bent the blade straight again and it kept working. I got two more for a new stove, and the current design seems even better. Spins up quick, and moves the air really well.

It works, it moves some hot air off of my wood burning stove. I just wish it moved more air. It's also inexpensive so maybe it's worth the cost, it's definitely better than not having one. But if it moved 50% more air it would be a 5star review.

My wife had wanted a fan in our wood burner for a couple of years. I just kinda ignored her. I came across this one and thought I’d give it a try. Price was right also. This thing REALLY works a lot better than I expected. It’s also very quiet, no sound at all. Yes I’d highly recommend this fan.
