  • Do not hesitate to buy this.
I paid about 120 for this 4 years ago. It’s cheaper now and worth every cent. It tears through juniper bushes like they’re nothing. I’ve used the crap outta this thing and provided minimal maintenance and it’s still going strong. It replaced a corded Black and Decker trimmer and the power and convenience isn’t even close. Light. Agile. Powerful. And with a 4 AH battery or more it just keeps on cutting. I am an admitted DeWalt fan but I do realize many of the tools I have are equaled or sometimes bested by the Milwaukee or Makita version of the same tool. But when DeWalt nails it- they do exactly that. And this tool, along with their battery powered pruning tool, is perfect. ... show more

  • Trimmer Works Great
The old trimmer was dull and I had to lug an extension cord around the yard. Plugging this DeWalt into an existing battery was so easy. Battery life is good. Unit does not weigh too much, I can reach up high with one arm for cutting those tall hedges. The blades are very sharp and can cut fairly thick branches. Maintaining the yard is so much easier now. Would recommend. ... show more

  • Hedgecutters
Dewalt brand doesn't disappoint. Handy cordless and lightweight still gets the job done. You still have to be there but makes the job easier.

  • Very Useful Tool around the House and Farm
This has turned out to be a very useful and versatile tool. I have a small farm and bush-hog walking paths along the fence lines. There's a lot of wild plant growth around the fence including wild blackberry vines, wild rose bushes, honeysuckle vines, small trees, etc. Often these plants spread along the edge of the paths, leading to scratches and impact hazards while mowing along the area with a tractor. I was able to walk the path and trim/clear the excess brush/vines/small limbs efficiently and easily. The trimmer also works very well on shrubs and is lightweight, yet has a long enough cutting bar to be a pleasure to use. Since I already had a number of 20V Max DeWalt tools and batteries, this was a no-brainer. I also plan to use this to top some older blueberry bushes, since the tool can cut up to 3/4-inch in diameter twigs/canes. I suggest that you spray the blades with lubricant after each use (I like Jack's Spray for this purpose), point the blades toward the ground and run the tool for about 5-10 seconds to spread the lube and then carefully wipe the surfaces down prior to putting it away. Contrary to some on-line comments, my tool came with a plastic scabbard. Very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Gets the job done
Very powerful and the blade is very sharp. Cuts through everything I need too without hesitation. Doesn't drain the battery much either.

  • Cuts good, sharp as a razor, fiddly trigger not great
This is a pretty good hedge clipper but like any tool its got pro and cons. Pros: It cuts well, very sharp. It's very light. Cons: It's got a little latch on the trigger that is hard to activate and makes it less comfortable than it should be to operate. As far as battery, I used the small 20v XR batteries from my impact driver and it had enough power to get pretty far into my hedges. My hedges are crazy long, probably looking at 500 feet of hedge at least so it got about 250 feet on light to medium heavy trimming but I didn't hit many large branches. For the average home owner, even the smallest XR batteries like mine will probably be enough but it depends on how overgrown your hedge is and size. With a larger battery, you could probably take on just about anything. After getting halfway though with this unit, I grabbed my Echo gas trimmer and finished up. Man did it feel heavy and awkward. These electric units are pretty nice. My gas trimmer does have more power, no question about it but I dont think on my mature and not particularly overgrown hedges it operates any better. If I had to power through a lot of heavy branches, a gas tool still might be the way to go but this DeWalt is still pretty solid. Way better than the NiCad electrics of years past. The biggest issue I had was with the trigger. Its got a fiddly little safety catch that is not very intuitive and makes the unit less comfortable to hold and operate than it should be. It also looks like it would be easy to snap it off over time. A simple grip safety would be a lot more ideal. Overall I gave it 4 stars. DeWalt makes pretty good stuff. My DeWalt hand tools are real workhorses and expect this unit will serve well and long. ... show more

  • Great hedge trimmer
Having grown tired of each tool I own using a different battery, I began replacing everything with Dewalt products. So, when my underpowered inexpensive trimmer needed to be replaced, I decided to splurge on this one from Dewalt. I am impressed! It is powerful, taking much less time to cut through branches up to about 1/2” (1 cm) in diameter. Using the large 20 V LIon battery, I have not had to stop midway through a job to swap out batteries. It is well-balanced, even with the large battery attached. It is about 50 percent more expensive than cheaper models, and the battery and charger are not included (which was perfect for me as I already have them for use with my other Dewalt tools). But the time and frustration this trimmer save is more than worth the cost. (Another plus that I hadn’t expected: Mine came with a blade sheath, which is very nice.) ... show more

  • Easiest, handiest, more accurate way to trim bushes.
I have always unhappy trimming my bushes, hollies, boxwoods, and similar plants with plug in corded electric trimers. Come unplugged, cord not reaching and having to add another cord, accidentally getting the cord tangled in the bush, and always the probability of cutting the cord. With the DeWalt 20v cordless trimer I have eliminated all those problems and awarded myself a faster, easier, lighter to handle, neater, finished job. It cuts well, is very consistent, and is almost a pleasure to use. One 20v battery, depending on the capacity, last a surprisingly long time with a quick and easy swap if needed. ... show more
