I've had this knife for a six months now, and I have to say that it is the best knife that I have owned. I'm a fine furniture maker and have a lot of experience with different tempered steels and their characteristics of edge retention and such, and this knife stands up there with the best tools that sit above my workbench. My biggest worry was the fact that the handle looked so geometric, but is fits so nicely in the hand. I'm writing this review because I am sharpening the knife for only the second time. The steel that this knife is made of is able to be sharpened at a shallow angle and retain it's edge for months. I have not had any issues with oxidation on the blade. The way that the handle wanes into the blade fits my finger just right. I can't really say enough good things about this knife. The only thing that I wasn't too fond of at first was the sound that the knife makes. As a metal handled knife, any bum makes the whole knife ring out like a chime. After a couple weeks of use that sound now rings as "Excalibur" in my ears. All of my previous chef knives were 8" blades, and I wondered how much of a difference the extra half inch would make, but I don't notice it. The sweep of the Kiritsuke means that slicing and chopping motions are as smooth as the motion of the ocean, but I can also choke up on the blade and pare with ease. I would buy the full lineup of these from Dalstrong, but honestly don't see a need, this knife can do it all with ease and enjoyment of use. This is my favorite knife, ever. I've owned very expensive knives in the past...I prefer the Dalstrong Chef knife over them all. It comes with an excellent wooden sheath that has magnetic backing. The magnet will hold the knife in the sheath and/or mount on a magnetic knife rack. The knife holds an excellent edge. I always do a quick sharpening with a ceramic sharpener (I use the Victorinox 4.3323 Pocket Knife Sharpener), and it keeps nearly a sushi-chef edge. Ergonomically, the balance is excellent. This is the do-anything knife: slice, cut, pare, carve, even a reasonable fillet ability. The blade has an excellent spine thickness, and very nice taper down to the edge and point. It will not bend. I like the contiguous steel handle and styling. This is a GOOD LOOKING knife - no seams or handles to crack or discolor. The stainless steel cleans very nicely. I get compliments from guests about the styling. I've bought one for each of my kids as a gift. It's quality, very useful, and still won't break your bank. ... show more

These are not only beautiful to look at but they cut like nothing else I've used before. I wasn't sure how they would feel in my hand but they felt just like any other knife. They have a good weight and feel perfectly balanced. They slice through vegetables with ease (including tomatoes), they slice through bread with no destruction and meat like butter. These are VERY sharp. You need to be very careful when putting them into the block because the sharp blade will slice the wood. After use we hand wash and wipe them down immediately to keep them looking shiny and new. This is a beautiful well designed center piece for any kitchen. It's a very sturdy block. ... show more

Beautiful! Definitely well built! Great packaging especially to be gifted. I Definitely have trust on this knife. Didnt give a perfect 5 star onky because it could have been sharper.     • Sharp looking and Sharp cutting
I purchased this knife for my first home, along with 3 others from the Crusader line. These knifes are beautiful looking and cut through everything like butter. They are displayed on a magnet in my kitchen and their futuristic look is a great conversation piece in the kitchen. They are a bit different to hold from other knifes but once you get used to them they are quite comfy. For their price they are really amazing knifes and with care I'm sure they will hold up a long time. Once I'm more settled in I hope to also buy the Crusader steak knife set ! ... show more

So when we buy knives we always want to make sure they are not just nice in looks but to make sure they are sharp like they say it is. As I tried it for the first time, I was amazed at how easily it sliced thru the meat and even works better wonders on my vegetables. I could thinly slice the tomatoes with ease and no struggles. I took a picture of it so you can see for it yourself. I like the grip because it is easy to maneuver but also I love how it’s heavy enough but not overwhelming. The cleaning is super simple as well.
