I think this is a knife that will get a lot of use in our kitchen. Looks and feels like a well made knife at a decent price with a lifetime warranty. A little on the heavy side with a slightly thicker blade than our other kitchen knives, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. If you are looking for a light weight knife with a thin blade for very delicate slicing this may not be the best bet. I think it’s a keeper for all around use. ... show more

    • Sharp blade - sharp handle!

This is my second knife from this company - my earlier purchase of a shorter paring knife turned out very well. As before, the new knife came expertly packed and presented. I was quick to test the blade, which I thought needed a bit of sharpening, but was shape-perfect for my use. It was the handle that presented a problem, though. The fine steel tang that runs all the way through the handle is riveted in place, and "should" be ground down so that it is flush with the wood surround. However, this was not the case with my new knife. The steel stuck up just slightly above the wood, presenting a very sharp edge that could cause a minor cut if not properly handled. What to do? Well, I took a small file and spent about ten minutes filing down the steel until it was flush. Scarred the handle just a bit, but better that than to face possible hand-cuts! Now? Ah, the knife is just fine, and I'll make it the center of my food preparation. Good, solid knife - happy story ending. ... show more

My wife and I have been married over 40 years and never really owned good knives. I learned the lesson about good tools when I replaced my father's rickety inherited table saw with my first good table saw. It was like "Where have you been all my life?!!" As I approach 70 and my wife approaches 80, I decided it was time to give ourselves a few luxuries before we kick the bucket. As I'm prone to do, I researched good knives exhaustively....both inexpensive and expensive. I read enough credible reviews comparing Cutluxe knives to much more expensive offerings, that I finally made my decision. First we bought a 10-in serrated bread knife. Loved that so much that we bought an 8-in Chef knife. About a half year later, I decided to go all in and order a set of three smaller knives as well. My wife is thrilled to no end. Seems like we weren't as careful with our less-than-sharp budget knives before, and she almost cut her fingertip off recently, so trust me that these knives are really sharp and hold an edge well. For hands that have grown weaker and more arthritic with age, good knives are really a good investment! ... show more
