We bought this to keep our new puppy from going upstairs. I shopped around for a long time trying to find a gate within a gate that was not flimsy and cheaply made. This gate is perfect for our needs. I screwed the cups into the drywall on one side (and used the adhesive), and used the adhesive cups on our metal banister pole to secure the other side. The gate and latching mechanism seem very reliable and solid. Assembly and installation was relatively easy. I did over-think/engineer the installation to make sure it was perfectly level (but I also did not install it directly on the floor.) If you are curious, the wall cups are 28.25 inches center apart on each side. The only thing that I could think to improve would be the auto-close feature. If you allow it to auto-close from 5-25 degrees ~ 4 - 8 inches -- it latches itself reasonably without slamming. If you let go with the gate open beyond that, it does slam pretty hard/loud. It does hit hard, but no initial signs that it will break over time -- just from a pessimistic engineering perspective, it sounds like a lot of abrupt energy transfer. I might look into something I can add to it to achieve a softer close. Tl;dr - Sturdy, well-constructed, easy install, aesthetically pleasant, functional, don't let it slam. :-) ... show more

I had purchased another baby gate that looked so cheap so we decided to buy this one instead. I absolutely love it. The gate swings both ways so it doesn't matter which way you install it. It was pretty easy to install and looks so good on our stairs. We have 2 posts at the bottom of our stairs and I really didn't want to drill into them, so I'm glad this comes with multiple options for installation. If you’re looking for a baby gate that’s well built and worth the cost, look no further. I was very impressed with the design and quality of this product. We have an opening of around 50” and wanted the gate opening to be as wide as possible. The self closing and locking gate is 24” wide and can stay open when you go past 90 degrees. The media could not be loaded. This isn't a cheap gate, however it is well worth the price. I used it on the doorway from my house to my garage. I like to open my garage during nice weather for great airflow, however , I have 5 little chihuahuas who would be gone in an instant. This gate is easy to install, adjustable and the gate functions works perfectly. It closes automatically unless you open it to its widest point, which lets it remain open. I ordered the brown color as it matches both my garage colors and my flooring colors. It came with one more extension, 4 other rubber attachments for stairs i believe, and a threshold. I didn't need any of these at this point but will keep them in case I choose to move it. Very happy with the look and design of this sturdy, well built and well designed item. Really like this gate. Clean looking and functional. Bought 2. If mounting with walls on ends, they are rock solid and 5 star. However, if mounting on steps using the banister pole, be careful. These require quite a bit of tightening to set the gate properly which is fine but it will push the banister pole out. My gate won't latch on the top because I can't tighten it without flexing the pole so much i'm afraid of damaging or weakening it. The gate is still functional and stays up fine. Being used for dogs so i'm not worried about a child getting past. Wouldn't use it in step application for a child due to top not latching properly. if not using a railing pole, it's great! ... show more

These gates are easy to install, work very well and so attractive they appear to be part of the decor. I purchased these to keep my new puppy confined to just one area of the house. As I’m potty training her I’m also in the room she’s confined in but am able to move through the gates with minimal effort. When I say “minimal” I’m referring to an adult. There’s no way a child can get through the gate. With new puppy and two year old grandchild the gates are a “sanity saver”. ... show more

I've been using this gate since 8/18/24. I made a mistake: I measured the top distance, but forgot to take the baseboard into account. The gate fits but I can't use the pressure pads at the bottom. GIVEN THAT this gate is still great. It does everything flawlessly: open, close, stays wide open, smooth movement. You do need a spare hand to operate the lock release ... unless you do what I do. I don't let the gate lock. I almost close it, but the springs hold it nicely leaning on the lock. Should my dogs put their paws on the gate, they'll lock it .... but most of the time they don't, so it swings freely without worrying about the lock. It's sturdy, well made, and worth every penny. It stands on an angled piece of footing that avoids stumbling over the bottom rail. I'm thinking of buying two more ... but they're not cheap. ... show more
