  • Love it!
I've had this on my 05 Silverado for a number of years now. Still no issues. The range is incredible, with line of sight I'm getting about an 1/8th mile of range to remote start my truck. Doesn't eat batteries, and being able to activate the remote start while it's running is fantastic, as you can pull up to a convenience store, hit the remote start, pull your keys out, lock the doors, run inside and your engine (and heater!) Is still running! A+! ... show more

  • Professional installation needed
I'm not a mechanic but I know my way around my vehicle to fix most things. If your vehicle has never had a remote start you'll need a pro to install this. There are no instructions on the box when I received it. I had looked up this start kit on compustar website and for my vehicle it said all I needed was I wiring harness to install. I took it to a local mechanic who's certified in my vehicle, and they couldn't install it. I needed more parts. So I took it to a pro installer and had to get what they called a blade for this to be installed. After spending another Benjamin on that and almost 250 in labor I have my remote start installed. Using it is simple, press the button to lock or unlock, press and hold to start the engine. It has a 15 minute timer to shut off the engine. Not sure if that can be reduced or extended, the timer was the same in my previous vehicle so that works for me. It also locks the doors when it starts the engine which is a bonus my previous vehicle didn't have. And it has the safety feature to kill the engine if the brake is pressed before the key is turned to the on position. Very happy with this purchase. The 2 way remote beeps at you when you lock or unlock the doors and plays a chime when the engine starts to let you know that action has been completed. The lights on the remote will flash every 30 seconds or so to remind you the engine is running. So happy I got this, b the day after it was installed we had a cold spell, single digits temps and a couple days of negative temps in the mornings. I didn't have to go out and freeze to start my Jeep. The 3000 ft range is strong enough to start the Jeep in my detached garage from my recliner. ... show more

  • No instructions
Do your research! This is a great product, unfortunately they don't offer details installation instructions like other brands. Compustar is a professional installation brand not designed for DIY. If you buy this you'll also need the programmer to adjust settings or have to go to an installer for these adjustments. I spent twice as long figuring out how to wire this unit into my truck as I did actually installing it. Luckily I found a good forum with an article from a guy who documented the wiring. Would have given it 5 stars if they had instructions. ... show more

  • I figured out how to program the options but don't expect Compustar to give you any help whatsoever
TLDR? Don't get a Compustar. Get a Crimestopper. Even better, get the system from MyPushCart. They provide 100000% better customer service, and their smart phone module subscription is far less expensive, and with smart phone control, who cares about the fancy features Compustar offers? The install was easy. However, their customer service is terrible, and that's what the rating is for. I wanted to change the remote start runtime but the procedure in the manual doesn't work, so I emailed Compustar. They replied that the options cannot be changed via the remote. I let them know there is a table in the manual telling you how to do it, and then they said that's for the installer and they don't want end-users to change the options because it could blow a fuse. Seriously? In the end, I figured it out after Googling. You have to follow the instructions for the 1-way remote, and you have to do it while the key is out (ignition/accessories off). Also, the subscription fee for the Omega mycar smart phone module that mypushcart sells is significantly less expensive than compustar's drone. In fact, I'm about to tear out this system from my car to install a Crimestopper unit (the brand mypushcart carries) so that I can use the mycar module. See, I'm willing to uninstall and reinstall my remote starter because of my dislike of compustar. You like their features? None of that matters when you have a smart phone module where you can start, lock/unlock your car from wherever you want. Plus, you don't have to pay double for the GPS tracking system like you have to with Drone. Compustar thinks you're too unintelligent to install. They purposely left the incorrect instructions in the manual after all these years. I suggest buying systems from mypushcart. They actually help you! And their systems come ready for your specific vehicle. Also, Omega's customer support is excellent as well. Compustar takes so long to reply that you might as well...well, I'll stop here. Don't buy a Compustar! ... show more

  • Great
I put this system in myself two years ago. I am an engineering student and know a decent amount about electronics so this was pretty easy for me to install. Bought a BLADE AL and programming cable too which makes the install a breeze. Having the cable is a must as you need to program the system for your car. It's very straightforward in my opinion and is very customizable. I have my system set to run for 15 min on remote start and my trunk button actually lays on my horn to help me find my truck (I don't have a pop-trunk). There's plenty of other options too. For the money, it's a high quality kit with the software to back it too. The software may be ancient but gets the job done. There's plenty of documentation out there for various types of vehicles too. Took me maybe half an hour to get all the diagrams I needed to install. Always double check with a DMM when you can. ... show more
