I now have a new key that is fully functional. Followed some random internet instructions to program the fob. Used a the working key to cycle between first position and off 5 times very quickly and removed the key. (didn't work when trying a single "on/off" turn of the key). I then held the unlock button while pressing the center button 3 times on the new key and letting go of all the buttons. Be sure the doors are closed, you are in the driver's seat, and the doors are unlocked. The remote on the new key worked fine once this process was completed. The original key remote was not functioning, likely due to a dead battery, so the "good" key doesn't need to lock and unlock for this step to work. It would not start the car though. So I started the car with my working key, turned it off and very quickly, like immediately, inserted the new key tried to start the car, and it actually worked. Not sure if it will work for everyone, but this managed to sync the transponder in my 2000 528iT with no fuss. Just turned the car off and with no delay out the new key in and now it works like a factory original. I had an original key fob that was missing the internal parts. I cut that key open and took the electronics out of this one and installed them in my OEM key and glued it back together. So I didn't actually use the blank and fob itself. No complaints. I cut and programmed the key myself. Key blade cut fine, nothing unusual, and programming was done with Autel IM508, but there is some auxiliary Autel equipment needed to make the programming aspect happen. No problems with the transponder chip. I will update it if fails or is inconsistent. Right now, happy as can be. ... show more

I was a little apprehensive about the programming, but it worked just fine on my 2002 530 series. I did have to try it a couple of times; I wasn’t doing the initial on/off step completely. You’ll want to turn on far enough that the fan comes on, not just the clock, but don’t start the car! Do that five times in a closed door car with a working key. Remove the key, then -with the new key, while holding down the unlock/arrow button, press the center lock button three times with a 2 second pause between. Do that within 30 seconds of the on/off sequence. I’ve not had the key cut at Ace Hardware yet, but it won’t even matter if that part isn’t successful because my original keys are just no longer powered but still start the car! Now my alarm doesn’t scream every time I unlock the door! (A key at the dealer would have been close to $200.) I just ordered a second blank! Note, I’ve not verified this, but I understand there are only a handful of times a BMW key can be duplicated before programming freezes. ... show more

Bought it as a spare for my 19 year old e46 bimmer. The Beefunny key is very easy to program to open and shut the doors. (watch the Youtube videos) plus it comes with an interchangeable battery that can be replaced when it wears out. It also comes with the transponder chip so a licensed locksmith can cut the key and program it to start the car also. Great value for the price. Feels as solid as the original and fits my budget. Works fine as far as pairing the remote with the car, but the transponder is another story. Locksmith can’t program it. BMW can’t program it. It can do everything except start the car.
