We purchased two of these for our home full of Rottweilers and it is very good product. We have one placed at each entryway to the room where our dogs spend their time while we are gone. The height is perfect for big dogs and installment was very very easy.

We needed a temporary barrier for our front door while we work on door manners/training with our two large dogs. They are both capable of slipping out the front door quickly while you interact with someone at the door. We needed something that would look nice since it's our front door- curb appeal. We needed it to be a temporary solution that would not damage the door frame but still be sturdy. It also needed to be functional since it's the front door and people need to be able to move through the gate. We think this gate meets all those needs. We installed it using the pressure mount, not using the cups, and it feels sturdy. We had a couple instances where one of the dogs pushed up against the gate and it held up. Our front door is mahogany in color and the black looks pretty good with it. Multiple visitors have mentioned they didn't notice the gate until they reached the door. The gate also has a nice wide door in it so you can leave the gate in the doorway but open the door within the gate to let someone walk in/out. The handle is a little tricky at first (lightly squeeze a button with the index finger and lift up gently) but you can learn it quickly. It is really nice that the gate swings fully open and you have the option to open it either inwards or outwards. The door also self closes. It works perfectly for our needs. Note- If you plan to use the gate in a similar fashion, measure the height of the gate and the height of your door handle. They could clash if you do not have the space to set the gate out a bit from the door handle. ... show more

Just installed this gate today, already had a cheaper gate that was a hand-me-down. This gate was rather expensive compared to the entry level options but I immediately see why. I purchased is because of its height, 90 degree detents and ability to swing inwards or outwards. I can leave it open when I want and it stays that way. My old gate only swings one way, and it has a button on both sides of the latch, but only one side is a button that's hard to press and the other side is fake. I had disassembled it thinking one side was broken but found out it was just cosmetic. This model has a latch button top and bottom that you must press simultaneously and they're both very easy to press and hold. This gate is very easy to install and comes with width extenders. A standard width doorway shouldn't need those. It even comes with attachments to put it between circular columns. It's much sturdier than my cheaper gate and the lock mechanism locks both at the latch and at the base. The gaps in the posts are small so cats can't squeeze between them. The only downside I can think of is if you wanted this to keep dogs or toddlers out but allow cats through. I think I saw an option for a little integrated cat door but I can't remember for this brand. Overall I'm glad I didn't buy another cheapo gate, this one is much nicer and thankfully worth the price. With coupon from Amazon I spent about $75. I might end up buying another to replace the other cheap gate I've been using. ... show more

I bought this as my daughter brought home a cat. She keeps it in her bedroom as my husband is allergic and we have 3 dogs. Two of the dogs are 100+ pounds and basically sat right outside my daughter's door trying to get to the cat. We didn't want our doors or floors ruined. We added this gate at the beginning of the hallway to keep the dogs away. It was quick to install and has not moved or needed adjustment since. I love that it had a door so we don't have to climb over a baby gate...that's what we used initially and we broke it.
