    • Very secure lock, but maybe not best for U-Haul storage units
I got these locks for some storage units, but I found out that the shackle guard hits the latch, which makes the lock stick out at 90 degrees. So I can't use these for the storage units as the lock may get bumped if the storage unit sits butt up against another unit. Given the strength of the lock, it would probably destroy the latch before the lock was ever damaged. Of course, I could use these locks without the shackle guards and they'll lay flat - but the security level drops by not using the guards (shackle is exposed + picking the lock can happen in 1 step). The lock is well made. It has three parts which makes it a bit tricky to use. The steps involved in unlocking can deter casual theft. The shackle does not give much room for bolt cutters. It is a bit of learning curve to lock and unlock which gives some confidence about how secure the lock is. Since it is a new purchase it is not possible to say how weatherproof the lock is. I use this to lock and overhead door storage unit, and I feel super confident in their security. I've had these for a year, and they're used outdoors. No weather issues, except they get HOT in the sun (which is no surprise, they're black), and the 3 piece assembly is difficult to do when they're hot, but it's worth it. My neighbors have disc locks, and regular padlocks, and I feel like if someone wanted to break in to any of the units, they would pass mine because the lock looks difficult to bypass.     • Great locks, but terribly difficult to open
I would love to give these locks a 5-star review because I believe that the founder of this company wanted to do right by his customers and make a secure lock- The problem is they are just way too user-unfriendly to open and close. I could only get one of the two locks to actually open, and then lock back up. I love the security of these locks, but I can see the frustration in the future when looking to unlock and relock these over and over again. ... show more

Ok, I’ve had this lock for a while now and it still remains to be my favorite lock. I love the three piece design. With that said, in my eyes it had two major flaws. The first one is the keys. You can take that key down to any hardware store and have another one made, some people might think , oh that’s great, but if someone you know steals your Key to make copies so they can gain access, this key is a bummer! I took the lock down to my local lock smith and they were impressed, with the Barron shackle which you can’t cut through very easily and one of my lock smiths said he tried to pick it but could not do it! Which left me impressed. So, number two, I took it in to have it rekeyed and they said they couldn’t rekey it. So, now I am left with a lock that I get nervous to use because I am pretty sure a copy was made! Oh, I also bought the two pack and they were keyed the same so now essentially I have two locks that I can’t use. If it weren’t for the very generic key, offered at many hardware stores, I would have to say these are the best locks made for the price I could afford, which I am thankful they made them affordable ! if you get these locks and decide that you don’t like them because a are too hard to use, please reconsider. They are hard to use for a reason. You, the owner will get fast at using them but a thief with struggle and give up before they even get them apart. just practice with them before deciding to return them.     • Secure Guarded Boron Carbide Shackle
I needed 2 padlocks to secure my POD while constructions is going on. I was shocked when I started looking at reviews of padlocks and how Easy it was to bolt cutter them AND pick them. So I eventually decided on the Best Perceived security with the Command Padlock. For the money in this price range of padlock, they offer the Best Security against picking AND bolt cutting but they are still pricey at $35 each. Hopefully I'm getting what I paid for :) Also, several reviewers said they were a pain to unlock & lock, which I also had the same user experience BUT I'm getting the hang of them and it's not too difficult once you do it 8 - 10 times lock and unlock to get a little muscle / motor skill memory action locked into your brain. Overall, I'm happy with them and let's hope that they are as secure as I'm paying for them to be :) ... show more

    • Not that complicated if you have a key
Bought a 2-pack hoping it wouldn’t be as difficult to use as some have mentioned. As another reviewer mentioned, after unlocking a couple of times, I could do it blindfolded. Wish I had gotten the 4 pack. Both locks were keyed alike. For extra security, grind off the key code on the bottom of the lock and keep it written down somewhere. It’s a letter and 4 digits in the format of A1234. Same code is on the key. ... show more

    • Eat pad locks around
These locks are well worth the money, it takes a few try’s to get the locking mechanism down but after that it’s super quick and easy, they make it to where the key actually ingages and locks the lock so you have to really turn the key almost like it’s going to snap off but it doesn’t just make sure you figure out which way it turns before applying pressure so you don’t break the key would highly recommend this lock gives me a piece of mind along with the bulldog security roller lock door isn’t getting kick in or cut ... show more
