  • The Ratings Don’t Do This Little Box Justice!!!!!
Pattern Name: 1 Count Extra Conditioning
Photo 3: Before I screwed up asking for my hair to be dyed Photo 2: My jet black hair?!? Photo 1: 5 mins after blow drying my hair and using HALF the max time for this product for color removal This product did everything I asked of it!!!! So the reason I think it has the bad reviews is because: 1. the smell 2. the brassy color that people are sometimes getting #1 I guess I can see that, it smells like rotten boiled eggs, but I’ve smelled worse on airplanes for much longer and tbh wasn’t surprised #2 If you read the directions and warnings in its entirety, you’ll see that highlighted/bleached hair will definitely need to go back to the salon for. This is because the bleach reacts differently than dye/toner to this product, so it will come out brassy instead. I had a few highlights that were very faded and leftover and could barely see this happened, but wasn’t surprised when it did. But again, only a warning to the highlighted hair folks. IF what happened to me happen to you, use this!!! My case: I went to a new stylist per a referral, and asked for “one shade darker”. I have naturally brown hair and had never all over dyed it. TLDR she dyed it black. I gave it a few days to come out but it never faded. I didn’t hate it but didn’t love it. My process: since I originally wanted “one shade darker” and still did, I did half/minimum the recommended time. So - 10 mins sitting, 15 min rinse/shampoo, 5 minute rinse/shampoo 3x. I also did a test on a strand, was SHOCKED with how well it worked (seeing the color brown again was all I wanted) and then did the whole thing same time all over again on my entire head. Total time was 2 hours. Hair Loss: this was my biggest worry outside of getting brassy hair and so I watched it like a hawk. Hindsight 20/20 there was no hair loss lol. In the moment it felt like there was, but that was because I was constantly running my fingers through my hair while rinsing, aka pulling out 1-2 strands each time LOL. This stopped completely after shampoo #2 and I stopped panicking for no reason Shampoo: I used a moisturizing shampoo. 10/10 recommend because my hair is so soft after washing it so much and your hair will appreciate it! Results: When I was done, I wasn’t completely sure it had done much, because you have to remember, you’re rinsing for so long that the color is SLOWLY coming out with the long rinsing and not dumping off your head like it does normally day 1 after the salon. But my rating!? 10/10. My hair is no longer weighed down by a pound of black hair dye AND curls up again like it used to. Also, it’s not fried from this product and should be even better than it was in a few days. So happy with this product and saved me money from going back to the salon!! If you’re nervous to try it, for $12 it’s so worth it! Thank you!!!!! ... show more

  • Did the job but at a price
Pattern Name: 1 Count Extra Conditioning
I had dyed my hair burgundy a while back and it had faded to a kind of pinky-red. I wanted to transition to a blue-based color. Typically, I bleach my hair over the color and it works just fine, but this time my bleach test was a little rough so I decided to try Color Oops for the first time. I wish I'd just stuck with the bleach. The Color Oops worked, my hair is back to looking as if the red was never there, however it came with a steep price. First, the instructions are to rinse your hair, wash with shampoo, then rinse for 15-20 minutes, shampoo again, rinse for 5 minutes, shampoo for a third time, then rinse another 5 minutes before applying conditioner. I was in the shower for nearly 45 minutes. Two days after using it, my bathroom (and attached bedroom) still smell strongly of the chemicals, despite opening the window and running an air purifier for nearly 36 hours plus two liberal rounds of Febreeze spray. I could even smell it on my hands despite wearing the provided gloves. While washing it out, my hair felt very brittle and rough. Thankfully this has subsided but I was actually pretty nervous for a while about the texture. Also, while washing I noticed two small chunks that had turned green. This has also thankfully gone away. Last, I ordered the listing that said "2-Count" but only received one of the product. In the end though, I'm thankful for that in a way because I can't see myself ever using Color Oops again. Edit a few months later: I've knocked it down from 3 to 1 star because I believe Color Oops contributed to the failure of my next hair dye. I used the same brand I've been using off and on for a decade and had my first bad experience with it. I waited a few days after using the Color Oops even though the box boasts that you can recolor the same day. The color came out uneven and extremely light. After a couple weeks of being increasingly annoyed and disappointed, I decided to just do my normal routine of bleaching the color out then dying the next day. I did the same color again and it came out ten times better. I can't completely prove it was related to the Color Oops but the coincidence is too strong for me. ... show more

  • Removes color without redarkening
Pattern Name: 1 Count Extra Conditioning
Colorfix was my go to color remover for years but I decided to give this a go and I'm glad I did because it works just as well if not better without the rotten egg smell that Colorfix would leave in your hair that literally lasted at least two shampoos. Colorfix also will redarken when coloring hair again, making it very difficult to know how your hair is going to turn out without a strand test. A reminder, this will not restore your hair to it's natural color as color lifts... you will get a lighter brassy color once this removes it that you will either have to massively tone or color over. This stuff has instructions that you need to rinse for like 20 minutes, but I went kinda crazy and took Dawn (yes the dish soap) to my hair 2x and then regular shampoo to help remove the color. This stuff worked. I had a horrible red situation going on with a color that was supposed to be a deep red but turned out more clown 🤡 red. It removed it all without damaging my hair. ... show more
